Yes as a double Inductee as solo artist and a member of NWA.

To anyone that don't want any Hip-Hop in the Hall Of Fame I think. I know why. When people hear Rock and Roll they think its something White guys invented.I remember growing up getting clowned by my friends because I listened to Rock or what they would call white boy music. If I knew then what I know now,I would have told them that artist like Little Richard'Bo Diddly,Chuck Berry,Ike Turner(Before he lost his mind)Jimmy Hendrix and The Isley Brothers(yes they did Rock and still Rock)not only did Rock but invented it.They were Rock and Roll.Over the years we(Black People)lost interest in it!Artist like Elvis(The King?)and Pat Boone were the flavor of the day.Hip-Hop is the only genre of music that white people don't dominate.Hip-Hop is from the ghetto you have to be in the urban areas to really get it.I think if there were more White Hip-Hop artist there wouldn't be a problem with it.I think its a Race thing and a Class issue. If there was a Hip-Hop Hall Of Fame I wouldn't have a problem letting Rock artist in.Rock artist do influence Hip-Hop.Some even defend it.Case and point David Bowie(
They really get it over seas) asking an MTV VJ about the lack of Black Artist on that network.Good music is good music those of you that are closed minded about things Its your lost

Ice Cube was raw.Classics like Death Certificate and Amerikkkas Most Wanted and The Predator are some solid reasons. He was the most cutting edge rapper of his time and is a better lyricist than just about most of these coke-head rockstars everyone praises.

How pathetic have things become that we have to praise someone like Ice Cube, who wrote some of the most vile, mysogynistic pieces of crap ever released in popular music? I cannot tell you how many rockers over the part 20+ yrs have written better stuff, yet are derided because they they aren't allegedly "real".

Of course that is the problem now - just who the hell decides what's "REAL" & what isn't? This is the sad part of hip-hop - that there is more than one set reality, & hip-hop is too narrow minded to accept this - that has resulted in such boring crap emerging over these many years.

Hip-hop has been stuck in the same rut for the past 15 yrs. The only difference is in the perspective from gangsta (trying to grab the wealth) to crunk, or whatever it's called (shoving said wealth in everyone's face). Substance will always prevail over style, hence the need to dress up like a clown and act out a version of reality.

Hip-hop has become an empty void of artistic nothingness backed up by generic sloganeering & go-nowhere catchphrases. So sorry if I'm not "down with that", but if that's all you've got to offer over there, I'll stay content in MY own distinctive reality, thank you.

i think the rock and roll hall of fame has become more than a rock thing. look at how diverse the artist in it are. it has become a music thing in general. the people who originally came up with it did when only rock was the only major music catorgory. im sure they didn't predict that music would become this diverse.

I'll go out on a limb and actually say that Cube solo deserves precedent over the man's work the slightly overrated NWA. Resounding yes, and if you want to pull the "but it ain't RAWK y'all" card: AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted seriously rocks harder than, umm, most things done with a guitar.

Why not YES

Ice Cube melted about 20 or so years ago. His gangsta shtick was nothing short of an abomination, not to mention an insult to the dozens of black musicians and singers who fought so hard to conquer racism.

Cheesecrop, your comments shook the world. Rap was an interesting experiment in the beginning, but died when the gangstas started cropping up near the end of 1980s and has remained stagnant since then. I don't pay any attention to the current crop of (c)rappers out there.

that'd be true, if eminem, jay z and kanye west didn't exist.

Zach and Cheesecrop, I do argee with you both on Ice Cube. I personally hate his music.

"Black Korea" is one of the most racist songs I've ever heard and that just goes to show that back in the early 90s, there were and still are rappers who are racist towards others. Ice Cube is better as an actor in my opinion.

Posted by Andrew on Friday, 08.16.13 @ 20:02pm

Ice Cube is (or was) trying to make his way as an actor. probably because thats the only career option left for him. if that doesnt tell you he doesn't deserve a hall of fame, i dont know what will. hes a RAPPER. let me correct that again, he was a rapper. are we taking the point to allowing a racist artist to join the ROCK and ROLL hall of fame? his fame died out a long time ago. it would be shameful to place him in the "legends" category with real rock legends.

He won't get in as a solo act, but he damn well deserves to get in with NWA.

Posted by Gassman on Thursday, 06.19.14 @ 10:41am

All I know is he played at Bonnaroo after Kanye & the people who saw him said he kicked Kanye's ass 6 different ways.

Very overdue to be inducted with NWA.

I have no idea why people are saying its "pathetic" that ice cube is considered to go into the Hall of Fame. With NWA and as a solo artist, he became a very influential figure in his genre. I bet all of you haven't even listened to him before. Also, the "Rock and Roll" hall of game has more than just rock artists and you all should know that by now.
