Dre will be inducted as a producer for sure, and maybe a second time as a member of NWA. One of the top creative forces in popular music of the last 20 years.

I think Dre is suitible to be inducted as a producer and a artist.

definatly yes a great producer and artist

yea hes a great producer and thats what will get him in but he will not be in as an artist because rap is not part of the rock hall if they want him in as an artist they need to open a rap hall of fame

Hes more likely to get in on producing. Rhyming words is hardly 'art'

Posted by Sum_Guy on Sunday, 12.17.06 @ 20:39pm

He may get in as a producer, but he'll have a shot with NWA.

Too bad there isn't a "Hell No" option.

Sure he is tallented in NWA but is that Rock?

If his director role has had any influence on Rock, it is a negative one. Doesn't that qualify?

"bcs they both made rap wut it is today"

that's not a good thing

Sum_Guy why is moving your fingers up and down on a guitar and yelling more of an art then rhyming

Posted by KMC on Monday, 12.31.07 @ 20:37pm

He'll certainly get in some day. Deservedly so, IMO. Nasty lyrics, but hypnotic beats.

I think so.He isnt as good as DJ premier or Marly Marl as a producer but hes the 3rd best producer.
Very influential producer because of the g-funk style he mastered.
--------------------------------------------------
But as a rapper?Definitly not.He didnt write his own lyrics for one.The D.O.C wrote the Chronic, ice cube wrote straight outta compton, and Royce da 5'9 wrote 2001.His rhyming skills are average at best as well.

I could think of 7 better producers in hip-hop alone.
8.Dr.Dre
7.The Bomb Squad
6.Havoc
5.Large Proffeser
4.Marly Marl
3.RZA
2.Pete Rock
1.DJ Premier
And none of them will get in,except Dre.Good producer but extremly overrated.

How can you be a producer when you never produce. Using samples of other artist music. Copyright Infringement.

Posted by Joe-Skee on Wednesday, 01.21.09 @ 14:53pm

Shut up Joe-Skee.It's not copywrite ingringement if you get permission to do it.Which is what all hip-hop producers do now.And most of the producers on my list don't even use samples.

Posted by Marcus on Friday, 02.6.09 @ 11:34am

You Shut up Marcus.Every So-called producer on your list depends heavily on samples. Truth hurts. Now Step In the Arena. So we can Break some Atoms.

Dr. Dre was a musical genius. Although hip hop involves sampling beats, Dre worked back in a time period in which producing tracks required playing instruments from scratch. Dre is an experienced musician with the Keyboard and sound synthesizers as well as turn tables. Dre's music from the N.W.A. to the Chronic tracks have influenced various levels of Rock Music. 1st ballot hall of famer

Again, we see people who are extremely biased against rap.

two words: the chronic

Posted by COLT 45 on Sunday, 03.6.11 @ 20:31pm

he's still making those hits 17 years after the chronic dropped. without dre we wouldnt have snoop or eminem or ice cube. think about that.
the chronic is a top 10 hip hop album of all time *****
2001 is legit but not as legendary as the chronic but still dope top 25 hip hop album ****
Detox is next if thats as dope as the others then you bet yo ass that dre will go

Dr Dre is a hip hop legend .he has no place in the rock and roll hall of fame

Posted by devd on Monday, 12.12.11 @ 05:07am

Why not? rund dmc, grandmaster flash and beastie bos are in, and overall he's certainly had a bigger influence than grandmaster flash.

Posted by GFW on Monday, 12.12.11 @ 12:18pm

Only if he gets into the hip-hop section. Or as a producer.

He's already in as a member of N.W.A. he is a lock for solo as well, both for production, and rapping.
