Replacement nominations are now open.

If you've previously nominated performers in this project, they will remain nominated (unless you state that you want to rescind a nomination). Replacement nominations are meant to replace the performers you've nominated in the past after those artists are ranked.

Here is my current count for how many replacement nominations each voter has for this round:

Darren - 14
AlexVoltaire - 10
DarinRG - 10
Darrin A - 21
dmg - 13
Donnie - 14
Gassman - 14
Jennifer - 12
joker - 100
MichaelEU - 15
Nick - 10
Nicky Joe - 14
***Paul K - 70 (Paul's nominations are not currently included)
Rick Vendl II - 17
Roy Gerald Bivins - 14
The_Claw - 14
Tom H. - 12

* = 1st round under the minimum of 75 nominees;
** = 2nd round under the minimum of 75 nominees;
*** = nominations will no longer be included in results if the total doesn't exceed 75 by the end of these nominations without explanation

Voters that haven't nominated artists previously are welcome to do so. For this round (and all rounds for the time being), the minimum number of nominations to qualify for re-ranking is 75 (the maximum is 100).

Any nominations from a voter whose total number of nominations falls below 75 total nominations (including those who nominated in Round 1) for two consecutive rounds will be temporarily disqualified unless an explanation is given for the lack of replacement nominations. This is done to ensure that Round 1 nominations don't have an outsized influence on future rankings should a voter lose interest in the project.

There will be 3 days of replacement nominations.

Replacement nominations will end at 10 PM Central (open until 11 PM Central) on Thursday the 22nd.

I think it'd probably be easier to just go with "Pine Apple Rag" for Scott Joplin

I'm not really sure what the verdict would be as far as possibly inducting an entire opera in the Song Project.

I looked it up on Spotify, and Treemonisha is put on there like an album, so it'd probably be more appropriate for the Album Project.

Just to make things easier, I say "Pine Apple Rag" should be the nomination.

About The Song Project, Jennifer wrote:
Easily my favorite Tina Turner song, this awesome anthem perfectly sums up life in the world of the original Mad Max trilogy most eloquently. Songwriters Graham Lyle and Terry Britten received the 1985 Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. In March 2016, the song was also adapted for the Fox television special The Passion and powerfully covered by Seal and Jencarlos Canela.

Tina Turner - We Donít Need Another Hero (The Thunderdome)(1985)

"Out of the ruins, out from the wreckage, Can't make the same mistakes this time
We are the children, the last generation, We are the ones they left behind
And I wonder when we are ever gonna change? Living under the fear, till nothing else remains...

Looking for something we can rely on, There's got to be something better out there.
Mmmm, love and compassion, their day is coming, All else are castles built in the air
And I wonder when we are ever gonna change? Living under the fear, till nothing else remains...

So what do we do with our lives? We leave only a mark.
Will our story shine like a light, Or end in the dark? Give it all or nothing!..

All the children say, We don't need another hero,
We don't need to know the way home, All we want is life beyond the Thunderdome."

Prince with Sheena Easton - Arms of Orion (1989)

One of the most beautiful and romantic love songs that I've ever heard so it is my easily my favorite Prince song which he wrote as the love ballad for Michael Keaton's Batman (1989).

"Orion's arms are wide enough, To hold us both together
Although we're worlds apart, I'd cross the stars for you"

Nominations for Round 2 close in about 4 hours.

Thus far only 7 posters have posted nominations.

I really hope we can get some more nominations from posters that regularly participate in the Song Project.

The nominations thus far are solid, but there's so much more potential of great songs that could be inducted if we could get a few more people to nominate some songs.

Thank you to anyone else that throw some nominations out.

The list I'm about to post is huge (I'm gonna do it in two parts), but this is a list of deserving songs for the Song Project by the artists in the top 50 of my 100 Greatest Black Music Artists list.

And though I get the point Michael EU was making, the Bee Gees are a lot more influential on today's music scene than people might think.

They're probably not that influential on indie rock, alt-rock, or hard rock/metal these days, but if you look at the pop and dance scene today, they along with Donna Summer, and Chic were really originators of that style and influenced Michael Jackson, Madonna, Janet Jackson, etc. who would become icons to today's generation of pop, dance, and R&B acts.

So yeah, the Bee Gees do have influence and impact to go along with their massive record sales and chart success.

I've done enough arguing on social media over political matters in the last few weeks, that I don't have the energy to join in on the Eric Clapton debate. All I'll say is that I think it's a crime that he's this low on the list, let alone whether he should be in the top 100. I'll leave it at that, cause it really doesn't matter at this point. Whether you think he should be even lower on the list or way higher, he's here in the last 15 of the top 100. And that's that.

On to my rankings...

1. Eric Clapton- 15 pts
2. Van Halen
