Pat Benatar, Rickie Lee Jones, Def Leppard, and Lucinda Williams in my opinion should all be inducted into the hall of fame. I hope next year this does happen!

I'm backing The Dead Kennedys, Echo and The Bunnymen and The Specials out of this lot.
The b-52s and Iron Maiden need to get behind some other new-wavers and other metal-heads (respectively).
Def Leppard = generic sh*t
The Furs = nowhere near HoF material

And you think the Dead Kennedy's are deserving?
I will take the Furs over these bands (for HoF consideration) and I am a big fan of all 3 you mentioned. And you know my opinion of D.L. (1979 - 1987). Except for a few songs, everything after Steve Clark died was lazy.
I think B-52's are way under-rated and Pat Benetar should be in.

Yes, I do think The Dead Kennedys are deserving. Fresh Fruit... is among the greatest punk albums, IMO.
The Furs really aren't anywhere near influential enough for consideration. Good music, but its influence pales against alot of new-wavers.

The B-52's
Def Leppard
Iron Maiden
probably Pat Benatar and The Psychedelic Furs.
And I honestly think a special induction for "Weird" Al Yankovic would be acceptable. The man's a comic genius and I don't think any comedic artist has had as good a career as he has.

Def Leppard's probably going to make it in. The question is when?

Milestones, I couldn't help but notice that your lists were very big from about 1990-1998 and then at around 1999 they dropped off to only about 2, 3 or 4 artists
Posted by Keebord on Sunday, 09.6.09 @ 06:41am
That's because most of the artists eligible from about 1999 onward suck except for a few lol

I still can not believe that Pat Benatar has not been inducted! When she burst on to the scene in 1979, she was the voice of Rock& roll. She is still a powerhouse in concert today, and has toured every Summer since 1995. Wake up Hall of Fame Members!...If you need proof go to one of her Concerts.. She will blow you away by her powerful stage presence, and that Voice....she will blow the roof off of any concert venue.... Amust for next Year... She is way overdue!

Def Leppard did not influence anyone. If they get in, then Thomas Dolby needs to go with them for playing keyboards on Pyromania.
I'm for The Specials - without them there would be no Rancid, no No Doubt/Gwen Stephanie, and a million other ska bands. They made white kids interested in Jamaican music.

If you don't think Def Leppard influenced anyone, then you weren't alive, or paying attention, in the 80's

Def Leppard, Iron Maiden will get in and should be in at this moment of time.
Weird Al Yankovic should some day

Iron Maiden, definitely. The Dead Kennedys have the influence to be worthy. Def Leppard? Maybe, but they need to get in line. The Specials and Echo & The Bunnymen, probably. I could go either way on Pat Benatar. Maybe to Accept, Saxon, Bauhaus and Sugarhill Gang.

How on earth can someone say Def Leppard didn't influence anyone? Whether you liked or hated them, groups like Poison, Slaughter, Warrant, Winger and Firehouse all emerged in the late 80's and early 90's. Each of these groups were heavily influenced by Def Leppard. But don't take it from me, read the bio from the respected AllMusic website for Def Leppard. Here's a small part of it "Def Leppard's presence was unavoidable -- they were the kings of high-school metal, ruling the pop charts and MTV, and teenagers and bands alike replicated their teased hair and ripped jeans".
