These artists released their first recording in 1972, which made them first eligible for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 (which would be the 1998 Induction Ceremony). The only definite misses here are Big Star and Roxy Music.

I read somewhere that Hall and Oates had more hits in the 80's than Madonna and Prince put together. Not sure if it's true but I remember reading it. I like them, they are great song writers. Madonna in the hall of fame? I don't think so. She's more an attraction than a true musician. She's all smoke and mirrors not talent.

I can make cases for Blue Oyster Cult, Dan Fogelberg, Hall & Oates, and Styx.

It looks like you've still got a ways to go before you reach the end, Milestone. This stuff runs up to 2033 right now (I think).

Milestones, you're the Gassman of September
Posted by Keebord on Saturday, 09.5.09 @ 18:26pm
I think it would be more appropriate to call Gassman "The Milestones of July"

You should be ashamed of yourself, Keebord. Milestone is pretty much brand new to this page, and you refer to him as the "Gassman of September"?

*hangs head in shame*

It's alright Cheesecrop, no need to be so hard on Keebord just because you're the Lord of Lasagna and this site's resident Zoroastrian doesn't mean you should let your absolute power currupt you

I don't really have much of a taste for Roxy Music, but you would have a hard time convincing me that they didn't heavily influence all the 80s new wave, particularly out of England. Without them, there would be no Duran Duran, Culture Club, Thompson Twins, and many others that are debatable.

^ I hugely agree. No matter what you think of them, Roxy Music is definitely the biggest omission out of this class. Yes to Big Star, definitely. I'd be okay with Scorpions making it as well. I like Richard Thompson but I just don't think his accomplishments add up. Styx? You must be joking. Maybe to Blue Oyster Cult. The rest I'm either not familiar with or I like but aren't really worthy (Lou Reed and Peter Frampton.)

Another possible scenario how "the committee" will see this class, this is me semi-satirically trying to think like them:

Scorpions are retiring after this tour so their window of opportunity has closed, though I think there MIGHT be room to argue for them. I hope Roxy gets in soon, along with Kraftwerk, so that New Wave and synth-pop can be addressed without any guilt. Big Star won't get in for along time, if ever, for "not being cool enough". I was under the impression that Styx will be pushed aside because they don't fit the criteria in any way, but that's just me (Also they're not that good in my opinion.)

Going by the rockhall revisited/projected and album + song projects the biggest five left to be inducted are:
