Yea I think there's a good chance they leave Sinead on the bench for a while.

I will say I think the Jimmy Buffett induction signals that they will just induct older big or dead icons without the ballot going forward. I imagine Bette Midler, Cliff Richard, Roberta Flack types will just go straight in without a nod.

I wonder since Sinéad didn't get inducted in musical excellence means that she did decent enough in the regular ballot voting that she has enough potential to try again next time. I don't predict her as the 2025 nominee. I think they're going to take a break from her for a little bit.

Probable inductees: No Doubt, Soundgarden, Mariah, Lenny, Coldplay, OutKast, White Stripes. Spoilers: Devo, Tracy, JD/NO, Thin Lizzy, War

Also don't expect me to post much stuff here for a while after this. I'll still be here, I just probably won't say anything. I've honestly gotten tired of Hall discussion here. This is mostly because, and I mean no offense to anyone, I feel like you guys have been saying the same old shit for a few years now and this year it feels like its gotten worse. I'll definitely be participating in this year's Projected season coming up, and I'll still join in on the Song and Album projects, and I'll probably post links to whatever poster or video I've made in the future, but otherwise don't expect to see much of me.

He settled that out of court, but was sued again this year for violating the terms of that settlement.

Harry was amazing and his songs still are. He did every other concert for "the other guy" (donated proceeds) and "when in doubt, do something" was his favorite saying. He co-founded World Hunger Year before anyone else was doing it. He is in my hall of fame and he and the band should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Maybe the name should be changed because so many genres have already been inducted. So why not Harry?

My late brother turned me on the Harry in the 70's. I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert 3 times. I remember where I was when I heard of his passing. I was going to see him a week later. His songs may have been too long for radio, but what he did in such a short life was more than most everyone. His songs were/are amazing. When I visit my brother's gravesite I play his music while I visit. He belongs in the HOF.

About the 2024 Inductees, GuestG wrote:
The hall of course has an indie/alternative problem, always has since that has always been anti-insider in nature. I think it's more then that though, the main thing is the Rock Hall has a 90s issue, or more specifically an age issue.

People are more inclined to vote for 60s/70s acts for a multitude of reasons. They will rather vote for a 60s/70s c-rate act while they are still living and make a-list 80s/90s/00s acts "wait their turn" due to younger age, and go through a certain number of nominations. Only s-list 90s acts like Nirvana will immediately get in, others will wait years for nomination #1 and then take a few after that.

Consider this year - Literally every single 60s/70s act nominated got immediately inducted on first try. Many saw them as waiting years for "their turn", and for many there was the "get them in before they die" argument and incentive going around. All acts that missed were late 80s to 90s. Even more significant, the three 90s acts that were inducted were nominated before and had to "wait their turn" - DMB 2nd time, MJB 2nd time, and ATCQ 3 times. Not only with multiple nominations but multiple years waiting for that first nomination. MJB is an a-lister even. All acts newly nominated - Mariah, Oasis, Sinead, Sade, Lenny Kravitz - all now have to "wait their turn" because they are seen as too new, not only against older acts including FYN but also 80s/90s acts who have been nominated before.

Unless the voter base shifts entirely or the make the next nomination only artists from late 80s onwards this is the future - outside certain s-listers all 90s acts will take a few years to nominate, and at least 2 ballots to be inducted while c-list 70s acts get inducted first nomination". Even the Mariahs and Coldplays are having to wait. Which is only a scary issue when you consider how actually rough the nominations they allow until they sidedoor you - 2 nominations until sidedoored is even harder then Baseball Hall of Fame. And that's going to lead to some very major act get screwed over.

Does anybody else feel like performer, musical excellence, and musical influence should all be merged into one category? Like have half of the performers voted in and the other half selected via committee. At this point, there should only be two categories: performer and non-performer. I still don't understand what Musical Excellence is tying to be. They're just putting everybody into this category: sidemen, producers, artists who can't get voted in on the ballot (LL Cool J, Judas Priest, MC5) and now artists who could possibly do well if nominated (Jimmy Buffett). It should renamed to Miscellaneous Excellence.
