Nothing short of genius could have produced Pink Flag, a complete deconstruction and reconstruction of all punk. Not sure that's enough to merit an induction though.

Not only was Pink Flag a work of genious, so were the two initial follow ups which anticipated much of what was to follow in the '80s. This is essential music for the Punk/New Wave era.

R.E.M. covered "Strange".

That is all.

Wouldn't it be amazing if Wire and Gang of Four were inducted at once?

As thoroughly mediocre as much of their recorded material has been, the influence, innovation and genuine genius presented by their first three, impeccable albums is enough to secure Wire a more than justified entry, even if they haven't shipped enough copies to do so in reality. Should have been in before the Clash, really, and that's saying something.

This band is way, way, way, way, waaaaaay too cool for the R&R HOF.

I listened to them yesterday; very unique. They're not first in line for punk or post-punk, but they probably have enough influence that I'd be okay with their induction.

Pink Flag. And "Essential" purchase. "Chair Missing" is on the same wavelength as the debut, but a bit more "progressive" in nature. The third album "154" is absolutely stunning! Great band.
