Willy was the ultimate artist (used in its complete context). Composer, arranger, singer, musician and performer, and what a performer he was. He provided a vast array of music styles to R&R which has endured for decades. Only because of record company stupidity and arrogant indifference has he been limited in exposure in the United States, even though he is a legend throughout the world; yet purely an American product . It is long over-due to induct Willy Deville into the Hall of Fame. I ask all involved to review his 14 albums and 4 concert DVDs in order to discover or rediscover this music genius.

Willy was never appreciated in his homeland. Clearly this is still the same. The rest of the world loved his music and performances. My feeling is that he transcends a mere US list.

If any rock and roller should be inducted, Wille DeVille should be! Come on.

It blows my 68 year old, rock and roll loving mind that Willy DeVille was not inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as soon as he was eligible. To me, his music is everything rock and roll should be. Even if the rock and roll business insiders don't want to recognize him, true lovers of rock and roll should be in an uproar that he hasn't been. Please do the right thing by the spirit of rock and roll and induct him ASAP!

Love his music! Don't really have the words to express why I think he should be included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but I know without any uncertainty that he should be!

Here's an excerpt from an interview with Bob Dylan:

ARE THERE ANY OTHER PERFORMERS BESIDES BILLY LEE RILEY THAT YOU CAN RECOMMEND FOR THE HALL OF FAME?

Yeah sure, Willy DeVille for one, he stood out, his voice and presentation ought to have gotten him in there by now.

if Bob Dylan says Willy DeVille should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, then he should be.

Willy DeVille was consumed by his love of music. He was a student of musical history and genres. He was a talented lyricist and storyteller. Most of all, Willy was pure emotion. He could sing someone else's song with all the passion and nuance he brought to his own work. And tying all these talents together was a charisma and magnetism that was effortless. It's no wonder his first wife defended him so vigorously. Willie was a real treasure.
