TS rocks... one of the greatest bands ever!

I love Dee Snider but no way.

Dee Snider and Twisted Sister.. Now I'll give credit for massive staple hits, such as I Wanna Rock and We're not Gonna Take it" (which were huge hits during the 80's). I think 2007 may see TS in there, but if not, maybe in a different class year

TS deserves a spot (though far from first ballot). Dee Snider's image on Capitol Hill squaring off against the PMRC is a staple in music history.

I'm not that Mike but anyways everyone knows the song We're not gonna take it and I wanna rock. It is very rare for someone to own a Twisted Sister album a it's rare for anyone to know any other song of Twisted Swister.

I'm voting YES but that's just my opinion.

Posted by Mike on Friday, 11.28.08 @ 05:55am

No! They are right there with Warrant and Europe as being an one of the reasons the 80's crashed and burned. They sucked in "78" playing the clubs on L.I., Brooklyn and The Bronx and they sucked 10 years later. Sorry, that is just my opinion.

I do give Dee credit for going to Capital Hill; but then so did John Denver. And he should not be in the Hall because of that one shining moment either.

They are right there with WARRANT and EUROPE being the BEST 80'S BANDS! I WANNA ROCK!

Posted by Zhing Yao on Monday, 12.22.08 @ 13:00pm

Sorry Zhing dude, Sister is not among the best. But I can agree on Europe.

Posted by Worm on Monday, 12.22.08 @ 13:07pm

I love Twisted Sister! They still tour and have amazing perfomances. People are still covering them. People cite them as influence. SO, for me it is definate YES!

Posted by Child in Time 27 on Monday, 12.22.08 @ 14:08pm

....and Europe too!:)

Posted by Child in Time 27 on Monday, 12.22.08 @ 14:09pm

Someone show me one quote where a noteworthy band cites either Europe or Twisted Sister as a musical influence.

Europe was the most overprocessed dish of pablum I have ever heard.

Child in Time - you have taken your name from one of the greatest Rock songs of all time. How can you possibly defend Europe? If you want to defend 80's Hard Rock - then post on Dokken, Tesla, Def Leppard, LA Guns, Saigon Kick, Kix, etc. At least there is musicianship and/or raw grit to the music.

Ok...I've got few that I remember. The first one is Dimmu Borgir, you don't have to like them, and you don't have to like the whole sympho-black metal scene, but you can't deny that they are one of the biggest metal bands right now. Their cover of 'Burn in Hell' is one of their most famous songs. Another one would be CRADLE OF FILTH, probably the biggest sympho-black band right now, even in the US, they cite them as influence, and they did cover version of TS too.
I'm Russian, even though I study in Italy right now, but I can tell you that ARIA & MASTER(2 of the biggest Russian Heavy-Metal bands) are influenced by them. And if you say, 'who cares about Russia', well it is a huge country, and there are a lot of rock fans, and ARIA has recorded songs with bands like U.D.O. and RAMMSTEIN, which'll give the idea, that they are respected even outside of former USSSR.
Now, if TS would be such a 'bad band', would MOTORHEAD, OVERKILL, HAMMERFALL, and JOAN JETT play their cover songs? And, well, Motorhead is one of the most respected metal bands in the world.
Also LORDI, the band that won the EUROVISION, ctes both TS and Europe as influences. Lordi and norwegian WIGWAM(cites Europe, and sounds like Europe a lot, too) are pretty much responsible for the European revival of glam rock. Melodic-death metal band Norther(who I was lucky to see live) does the cover version of the Final Countdown, and on the concert I was, their lead singer announced the song like that: 'And now, the greatest song, by the greatest Sweddish band! Are you ready for some real hard-rock?'
Final Countdown peaked at # 1 in 25 countries(I know that's not the best argument, but stil). And even if you don't like them Norum is very, very talented guitarist, and Joey Tempest has an amazing voice.
Also, just count how many times I WANNA ROCK, WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT, AND THE FINAL COUNTDOWN were played in different tv shows, films, cartoons, sport events.

And, Dameon, I love Dokken, Tesla, Def Leppard, LA Guns, Saigon Kick and all other good 80's bands. And I do participate in conversations about them.

ps I totally agree about the CHILD IN TIME, Deep Purple is by far my favorite band.

Posted by Child in Time 27 on Monday, 12.22.08 @ 15:08pm

CIT - I cannot say that I know any of the bands you have listed, but I will check it out. And I certainly am not going to say anything bad about Russia, lest I want to risk my old lady kicking my ass from the Bronx to the East Village. I have checked out the music scene in Kishinev, Moldova and found it pretty damn good...definitely 80's influenced. And if you are in Italy right now, I am so friggin' jealous. Go down to Gangi Sicily and say hello to my family while you are there.

As for TS - my band played with them in the late 70's before Dee joined up with them. They were a bad NY Dolls wannabes. And I am just not a big fan of theirs. As for Europe, Tempest may have a good voice, but I think they were one of the bands that led to the downfall of the scene. And if you want to check out a band who I think influenced them, check out Angel from the mid 70's.It is all opinion.

Child In Time - I believe Wigwam is a Finnish band, like the group Lordi you mentioned. Not Norwegian. I might be wrong but that's what I always thought.

Posted by Keebord on Monday, 12.22.08 @ 15:42pm

Wig Wam is from my homeland aka Norway. They participated in the Eurovision 2005 for Norway. I'm not a big fan, but they have some good songs.

as for Twisted Sister, they deserve it!

Posted by CINDERELLA on Monday, 12.22.08 @ 16:02pm

Oh I was thinking of a different Wigwam then. A Finnish band who formed in the late 60's. Come to think of it, THAT Wigwam couldn't be influenced by TS if they formed a decade before them, now could they :)

I won't confuse the Finnish prog rock band "Wigwam" with the Norwegian Eurovision winners "Wig Wam" anymore

Posted by Keebord on Monday, 12.22.08 @ 16:08pm

I would not really be surprised if they did not go in (I hope so though.). Twisted Sister is like Warrant, Jane's Addiction, and Quiet Riot. They will be really close but they possibly might not go in.

Posted by Mike on Wednesday, 02.4.09 @ 14:40pm

I don't think they should be in it. They are so weird.

Posted by Gitarzan on Tuesday, 04.21.09 @ 13:53pm

I'm guessing that's not the real Gitarzan's comment

Posted by Keebord on Tuesday, 04.21.09 @ 15:43pm

Nah. Good band, but Motley were the ones who spawned all the imitators so they should go in. I appreciate their accomplishments, and I always love listening to Dee on the "House of Hair", but I just don't think it quite adds up for them. I just found their Behind the Music though, and I'm happy to finally watch that.

Personally, I like Twisted Sister a heck of a lot more than both AC/DC and KISS combined. Of course, the induction of KISS will most certainly open up the doors for the nomination and/or induction of Twisted Sister. Dee Snider and Jay Jay French and company should be proud. Personally, I think that Dee Snider, or possibly all of the members of Twisted Sister should induct KISS into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. What do you, think? ;-)

Hell yeah!! Not much could overshadow a KISS induction but a Dee Snider induction speech just might! They could do for KISS what Grohl and Hawkins did for Rush.

Posted by Tom H. on Tuesday, 12.31.13 @ 23:26pm

Yes definitely, Tom H.

Plus all of the members of Twisted Sister could be dressed in their extremely ugly drag queen regalia, to boot!

Is Twisted Sister not the offspring of AC/DC and KISS? ;-)

Posted by akdxmy@hotmail.com on Wednesday, 01.1.14 @ 02:30am

In my honest opinion, not only is Twisted Sister, the offspring of AC/DC and KISS, but they are infinitely more talented than either of those other bands would ever claim to be! ;-)

Posted by Enigmaticus on Wednesday, 01.1.14 @ 03:50am

In addition to their outrageous "very ugly drag queen" image, the members of Twisted Sister could actually play their instruments, with some level of proficiency. Twisted Sister also gave the rock world two universal anthems to help calm the angst of disenfranchised adolescents: 'We're Not Gonna Take It' and 'I Wanna Rock.'

Plus, the band had faced an uphill battle to even become recognized, in the first place. After reaching a pinnacle of success and recognition, however they had imploded like many other bands.

Unlike many other bands however, they have returned.

AC/DC has been in the RRHOF for quite a while now. Now that KISS has joined them; is it possible that Twisted Sister could be next?

--------------------------------------------------
Probably not. Twisted Sister & Quiet Riot were there in the early 80's, but most folks associate the L.A. metal scene with the Bon Jovi/Cinderella/Poison sorts that came down the pike right afterwards. That or else Def Leppard, but for sound only, & not geography.

TS paved the road ever so briefly, only to get plowed over by what came down that road. I wouldn't mind seeing them in, but I'm not sure it'll happen anytime soon.

Posted by Cheesecrop on Sunday, 05.25.14 @ 06:13am

Although, I still think that the induction of Twister Sister is still several years away, I think that the induction of KISS bodes well for them? What do you think?

Posted by Enigmaticus on Tuesday, 06.3.14 @ 10:01am

A.J. Pero RIP

Posted by Roy on Saturday, 03.21.15 @ 08:55am

Rest in peace, A. J. Pero.

Of all the remaining hard rock bands not yet in, I feel that Twisted Sister is definitely worthy of immediate induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, along with Deep Purple.

Posted by Enigmaticus on Saturday, 05.2.15 @ 11:41am

I would say NO to Twisted Sister RRHOF. An example you can't put every group in the Hall. Believe Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Scorpions, Iron Maiden Judas Priest etc will be elected before Twisted Sister. That's just the truth...Did like Dee Snider as a singer. KING
