Part of only a handful of Reggae artists (along with Marley & the Wailers, Jimmy Cliff and 'Scratch' Perry) that belong in the Hall

Toots not only invented the word "reggae", but defines reggae music to this day. STILL a powerhouse performer, Toots deserves to be inducted in 2012... a posthumous nomination would be a shoo-in, but also a crying shame.... and a disgrace, considering Jimmy Cliff is already in.

Seriously! How can you ignore their influence or the awesome sounds they've been putting out? Ask any reggae or ska group anywhere and they all listen to toots. Just make it happen hall of fame committe!

Saw this band at The Hangout. Played about 1330, very hot then. Toots is a short, stocky/muscular man, still looks to be in great shape at 65 or whatever he is. Played acoustic guitar on about half the songs. Crowd ate it up.

It seems that the first record from the Maytals, I'll Never Grow Old, was released in 1964. So Toots and the Maytals should be listed as eligible in 1989 (1990 ceremony).

Security Question:

Which letter is Springsteen's band named after?
