If the Village People don't make it in, Macho Men all over the country--particularly those In the Navy--will have to Go West with their ballots!

Yes, I know, that was disgusting. I still had fun writing it!

And I had fun reading it!

Thanks.

Okay, maybe all those Macho Men will have to stop at the Y.M.C.A. when they Go West.

Now is it more clear, clueless?

It's clear. But I don't get why it's disgusting?

Love their songs, love the gimmickry, but I wouldn't put them in the Hall.

I am not sure what a boy band is. Were the Beach Boys ,Coasters,Temps ,Drifters Lettermen, Beatles etc.... a boy band.? lol

A boy band is usually a group of "boys" who stand on stage with no instruments, dance like clowns, screech like hags, and make little girls do likewise...that would be my learned definition...

Sounds like The Beatles than gitarzan

No to the Village Idiots.

WTF? They should be in the Wedding Reception Hall of Fame, but not the R&RHOF. Sorry, can't think of any original sexual double entendre.......

A true "beacon of light" for all "boy bands" to follow...

In that case, the Vilage People would not be a boy band. I remember, on one of their albums' personnel listing, the Indian was credited with "vocals and foot bells." That IS an instrument.

Gitarzan, you owe the Village People an apology. Not.

Okay, Joe....Village People, I'm sorry you're a "boy band"...

How's that...????

Posted by Gitarzan on Wednesday, 10.28.09 @ 17:35pm

Gitarzan:

I was referring to your comment about boy bands typically not playing instruments in their bands. Although the Village People did not appear to play instruments, an album credit states that the Indian played foot bells. That probably counts as an instrument.

It was a bad joke, all right?!

Joe...I caught what you were doing, and just tried to return in kind. Didn't mean for you to take what I said seriously...

Gee, Gitarzan, how do you take foot bells and/or the Village People seriously?!

Glad you saw it that way. Thanks for the conversation. (Cool tagname, by the way.)

The Village People were the Spice Girls of the late 1970's.

I like them , I can not think of any other groupe like them

The VP were one of the campiest acts of the late 1970s, and had a cool stage show. Like them or not, their material still has a lot influence today and gets airplay. The only detractor I can find about them musically was the ill-advised fashion change for their 1981 album "Renaissance", which could have brought them back from the post-disco slide. They certainly deserve a spot in the RHOF.
