Every band on that list is more crap than the puppets. The Shadow Puppets kick you in the balls at turbo drive and are the definition of rock music, and music altogether. They are bigger than jesus, they are god's parents. They are the greatest thing ever to happen to humanity. To mankind. To time. To existence. Without the shadow puppets we would not exist. The Age of understatement is the closest thing to God's spirit on earth.

Math fail.

Just to distinguish that "Phil" is different from "Philip"

Posted by Philip on Sunday, 06.7.09 @ 12:20pm

Sheesh, what's with all the radicals. I mean you can like these guys, but they are not even close to being the greatest band ever. In other words, if you think they're God and Jesus combined and think they are the best songwriters ever, etc. you just taken fanhood to a whole nutha level.

This page is property of Phillies fans now. Let's defend that world series. Ryan Howard for MVP! So how do you guys feel about the Phillies chances this year.
P.S. Rays suck

Posted by phillie phanatic on Sunday, 06.7.09 @ 12:24pm

I'm placing bets for the Red Sox. Three this decade. Making up for the 86 years. Phillies will win the central though. Just don't hate on the Rays. They could get wildcard. Phillies can go 95 wins and lose in the division series against the Dodgers. Red Sox vs. Dodgers 2009!

Posted by jim on Sunday, 06.7.09 @ 12:27pm

Ryan howard is NOT the best. Chase Utley is the best of them all. He should get MVP this year. Go Phillies!

Posted by Utley for MVP on Sunday, 06.7.09 @ 12:29pm

this page is now property of dodger fans.

Posted by dodger fanatic on Sunday, 06.7.09 @ 12:31pm

Dodgers kick ass! The best catcher of the last 10 years is russel martin. James Loney and Juan Pierre are allstars this year. Pitching staff is number one. Schimdt, Kurota, Kershaw, Broxton, Wolf, Billingsley, Weaver, Mota, and Milton!!! All should take cy young. Dodgers win in 7 against Yankees. Place all bets!

Now that baseball talk is over let's get down to business. Their album went straight to #1 as a debut. Their single went #1. Check. They got airplay in the US, check. They innovated the britpop revival schtick, check. Whoa whoa whoa, hold on, their just a side project who might not release anything else. Ah ha.

Posted by Perry on Sunday, 06.7.09 @ 12:38pm

Damn this page is getting popular. Don't know these guys but there's like a million comments on the home page about them.

there okay

Shadow Puppets are awesssommme!!! They write the best tunes. and they are fair and balanced

Posted by left and right on Sunday, 06.7.09 @ 12:44pm

Who the hell cares if their fair and balanced? This is about their musical output, and like someone said, their just a side project who probably won't put out anything else.

I listened to a few of their songs and checked out a few of their videos. They're not that bad. It's just very reminiscent of the Beatles, but in a rather blatant way that doesn't allow any room for their own input. They had one song (forget the title) where they are sitting on top of tanks, and it is so obviously a rip-off of "Help!" that I couldn't help but laugh. Coudn't they come up w/anything original?

It's not all bad. The song STANDING NEXT TO ME (I believe that's the title) was pretty good, though it struck me as a cross between the Beatles (once again) and something you ight find on the Love album "Forever Changes". It's derivitive, but fairly good.

Red Sox will be lucky if they make the post-season this year; but I think they will because the Rays will not perform at last years level. A lot will depend on Big Papi. Phils do look good but I need to see more from the starters. The Dodgers will be tough in the West.

I think it will be Dodogers and Phils for the NL crown and Sox/Yanks for AL Crown with NY and LA meeting for the title.

All wrong on that Dodger/Yankee match-up there. It could easily be Phils-Yanks instead. By all rights we should have taken all four games of the series in L.A. Feliz normally handles that ball in the 9th inning of the second game, but the bobble cost us. I'm not sure what's up w/Lidge, but we had them in the third game as well, till he imploded yet again. I do have faith in Lidge. If he's injured, he ought to let us know.

We split the series out there, but our two victories were decisive, and we had them w/their backs to the wall in their two wins. Write off single misply from a sure handed 3B and you've got 3 out of 4 for the Phils. Re-wire the closers head and we sweep them - in their park.

I want to see what happens when Manny comes back. Will the kids be thrown off their game a little thinking that Ms. Ramirez will carry the load for them the rest of the way. Plus, I have much distrust of Torre.

Posted by Dameon on Monday, 06.8.09 @ 12:26pm

I'll go with the Dodgers/Red Sox for the world series. Going for Dodgers in 5. The Sox got some issues. Ortiz has been struggling all year and has only hit a couple home runs. Dice K isn't doing so hot either. Varitek, Bay and Ellsbury are suprisingly carrying the team. LA's got one of the best pitching staffs in the NL. Blake, Kemp and Ethier are looking like all-stars for 09. Manny coming back gives them a huge boost. Dodgers will get their first title in 20 years. Having the Sox upset the Yanks in the ALCS just like 04. Except it won't be as gripping.

Posted by lame on Monday, 06.8.09 @ 17:17pm

Yankees will get the AL. Not going with the Phillies or Dodgers. Cubs always blow it. The Mets blow it after they get in contetion. Who does that leave? The Brewers for NL. Don't mess with Fielder. He will slug it all out of the park. The Brewers will win it. First time, long overdue.

Posted by Freddy on Monday, 06.8.09 @ 17:24pm

I'm hoping the Tigers can pull themselves together. What can I say? I'm a diehard Tigers fan. They've finally got a decent bullpen, though their starters need a little fine-tuning (except Verlander). If Maggs can pull out of his funk and get back to swinging a hot bat, look for Detroit to make it to the post-season again.

Posted by Philip on Monday, 06.8.09 @ 17:27pm

Hey 'bout dem Rockies (GAG!!!!!).

I went to school with the owners...didn't like 'em then....!!!!!

Posted by Gitarzan on Monday, 06.8.09 @ 17:40pm

Rockies=NOT A CHANCE!!!
My predictions for division winners
AL East: Red Sox
AL Central: Tigers
AL West: Angels
AL Wildcard: Yankees
NL East: Phillies
NL Central: Cubs
NL West: Diamondbacks
NL Wildcard: Mets

Posted by Vince on Monday, 06.8.09 @ 17:58pm

I'm pulling for Oakland for the AL. Harden is a perrenial cy young winner. Eric Chavez and Jack Cust are great power hitters. Rotation is good too. The bullpen is a little iffy, but they have a shot for AL crown. Phillies win in 5.

Posted by Chris on Monday, 06.8.09 @ 18:01pm

Porcello is looking good for the Tigers. Future ace for them. Dontrelle sucks and they know it. Release him to get more money. Verlander is doing good after last year's disaster. Can't wait to see Bonderman back. Armando is okay. Edwin sucks. Miguel is pulling together. Inge and Granderson are all-stars probably. Glad they trade Sheffield and Renteria. They were huge flops.

Posted by Vince on Monday, 06.8.09 @ 18:06pm

Pirates will win in 5 against Yankees. Pirates will surprise us all with the wildcard. I totally called it.

P.S. Shadow Puppets are okay. not bad not good

Posted by Kilpatrick on Monday, 06.8.09 @ 18:09pm

Dontrelle isn't that bad. His last couple starts he's been getting tagged, but that happens from time to time. Glad Rodney is shaping up. Last season he was a joke. Bonderman, I think is doing relief work... though I may be thinking of Nate Robertson. Yeah, Sheffield had to go. He just doesn't have it in him any more. Larish and Laird, not to mention Anderson, are really helping shape up the offense. Glad to see Granderson hitting for power more often, too. Unfortunately, the Tigers' lead in the AL Central is just too tenuous for fans to feel comfortable. Luckily, that also means too tenuous for the Tigers to get comfortable, and therefore, get careless.

Posted by Philip on Monday, 06.8.09 @ 18:22pm

Dontrelle is that bad. He had one good game and then has gone in reverse. Too bad, I like the guy and his attitude.

OK - Rays were sent back to Florida with their fins between their legs and it is off to Boston. Time for some real baseball,

Posted by Dameon on Monday, 06.8.09 @ 20:10pm

I think the Tigers got a shot at the playoffs. Granderson and Cabrera is doing great. Bonderman is not back yet, but has been doing some work in the minors. I think maybe the Cubs might not blow it this time. And I think the Sox will get the AL. Cubs in 2009!!! Zambrano for Cy Young

Wow, someone thought the pirates had a chance. The Yankees are winning that series. So be quiet Dodger fans, Phils fans, Angels fans. Yanks in 5 against the Phils.
Cubs, Tigers, Giants, Mets, Braves, Rangers, you all choked. Sorry to say. Giants and Rangers led the wild card at one point!! The Tigers looked like a lock for the Central! Braves were looking like a potential wild card! Cubs led the Central! As the Cubs always say, better luck next year.

I hope you won't be too upset when the Phils beat the Yanks in 5 a couple weeks from now.

It's spring training, time for a new season of baseball. Go Rockies

Posted by Dean Vernon on Monday, 03.15.10 @ 13:43pm

Can't help but notice I dropped a post here about 6 months ago saying the Phillies would beat the Yankees in 5 games in the Series. Of course, we all know the Yanks bought that Series, so... (lol!)

Rockies ought to have a chance this year, providing the Giants don't find some miracle bat to match Lincecum on the mound.

Posted by Cheesecrop on Monday, 03.15.10 @ 18:36pm

After a good night in the theatre, after watching plenty of opera, yodelling and a capella, the closing marionette show performed by Dexterus Von Betamix III and his Last Shadow Puppets would astound the audience. A standing ovation to the Master of Dolls was necessary.

Posted by Milestones on Monday, 03.15.10 @ 18:40pm

So is this page about baseball or about this band? Because this band is the shizzle. They deserve to get into the hall of fame.

Posted by Pistol on Friday, 05.7.10 @ 00:03am

What a bloody great band. Needs one more knockout album to seal the deal. Alex Turner is a musical genius.
