The Dixie Cups deserve their place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The group had several singles make the Top Forty on Billboard (U.S.), during a time when the British Invasion in general and the Beatles in particular were dominating the charts. In fact, the Dixie Cups' recording of "Chapel of Love" hit #1 in the spring of 1964 and effectively "took back" the charts from the Fab Four. "Iko Iko," released the following year, became a second signature song for the trio and has been performed at numerous concerts, parties and festivals, just as "Chapel" has been played at countless weddings. The Dixie Cups have earned a spot in the Rock Hall! Posted by Laura Pinto on Sunday, 05/29/2022 @ 11:48am |
