Why not induct Jerry Allison, Joe B. Mauldin, and Niki Sullivan members as Sidemen?
I mean, Buddy Holly & the Crickets, should have been inducted together in 1986, but at this point I think the most grateful way to get the boys in the Hall would be as Sidemen, and not as Performers. I really think this is a reasonable solution, especially looking at this year's sidemen, it is pretty much along the same lines. And also, all three members had successful musical careers outside of Buddy Holly & the Crickets. Jerry Allison is a hugely influential and innovative drummer from the first rock era. He even pioneered one of Rock's most enduring drum fills (a swingin' series of 5-stroke-rolls across the snare and toms, as exemplified in Everly Bros. "'Till You Kissed Me", which he played on)

At this point I guess so... They should be in .. NO DOUBT..! I would still put them in as a band not side men..

Although this will never happen, I think the hall should make "corrections" and include the Crickets with Buddy Holly, the Miracles with Smokey Robinson, the Silver Bullet Band with Bob Seger, the Midnighters with Hank Ballard, and the Comets with Bill Haley. The fact that they were not included is ridiculous.

There's also been plenty of particular band members that have been excluded from induction (i.e. Zola Taylor from the Platters) while Robert Trujillo (whose only been on the most recent Metallica album) is inducted. The hall is seriously screwy.

I definitely don't think Buddy Holly would've liked or even stood for being inducted without Jerry and Joe B. I don't know if the "Hall" feels like they distanced themselves from Buddy by continuing to tour after he died (with Sonny Curtis), but that would be a ludicrous notion...

There was no reason to induct Holly without the Crickets. The band that supports an artist is just as important as the artist himself.

Jerry Allison should be in just for co-writing "That'll be the day". It is absurd that the Crickets are not in the hall. At this point with the hip hop & rap inductees, along w/Abba, Madonna, etc.. I would not even want to be in the hall. It has become a laughingstock.

Wait a second, I could have sworn that Zola Taylor IS inducted with the Platters.

"Why not induct Jerry Allison, Joe B. Mauldin, and Niki Sullivan members as Sidemen?" - Jonny

There is NO reason to dismiss their accomplishments and sweep them under the rug so to speak, just because the Hall made a massive mistake and failed to induct them with Buddy Holly. Ignoring them for over two decades and then dismissively inducting them as sidemen would be a big mistake. As Steve Z said, the Hall should make "corrections" and say the Crickets were inducted with Buddy Holly or simply induct them on their own as the Crickets.

Please join our facebook page trying to get the Crickets into the Hall of Fame,

It is a shame that we cannot get them in, they deserve to be in along with Buddy as well as the Miracles , Silver bullet band, and the list goes on and on, the Crickets were never even invited to the induction of Buddy Holly and that alone is a slap in their face, hope we can do our part and get them in

Absolutely nonsensical to induct Buddy Holly but not the Crickets. Seems to be Hall policy (see Springsteen, Haley, Robinson etc). Weird.
