The Beau Brummels have an impressive résumé for a band that has received little Hall of Fame consideration as of 2009.

When "Laugh, Laugh" came out in late 1964, it marked the first British-sounding hit song by an American band after the British Invasion. The band blended folk and rock styles before the Byrds, and they found success coming out of the San Francisco scene prior to the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Moby Grape, and all the rest. Unlike many of the successful bands of the time, the Brummels (particularly guitarist Ron Elliott) wrote their own material. They got a couple big hits, and later on earned critical acclaim with the psych-pop concept album "Triangle" and "Bradley's Barn," one of the earliest country rock albums.

They were never the biggest band around, but they were pioneers in more ways than one, who over a relatively short period cranked out a lot of great music.

"Laugh, Laugh" was good, "Just a Little" made a dent, but these guys will probably only be able to make a 60's Music Hall of Fame or a Folk/Folk Rock Hall of Fame. Kyle does a good job of nailing their significance.

I know that the Beau Brummels are working on new recordings and will be available near future. This band broke up because they had to do there civic duty and be drafted for the i Vietnam war. They played early Rock and Roll and made a big contribution to American music.
