Two For The Show was a Trooper song. Inspired by Blue Suede Shoes from Elvis Presley. One for the money, two for the show, three to get ready...

Three for the lady on the radio, in Trooper's case.

Carl Perkins wrote Blue Suede Shoes, and Trooper's Two For The Show sounds nothing like it.

Levon Helm, the only American member of The Band, is dying! Final stages of Cancer.

R.I.P. Levon Helm.

RIP Levon Helm. The funkiest and loosest white drummer in rock, and a rich voice from deep in the southern soil. All of the voices of The Band have now been silenced (Richard Manuel, Rick Danko, and now Levon.)

you know what sucks?

within this decade nearly all of the 60's (and certainly all of the 50's) pioneers are gonna die.

Not sure I agree with that sentiment, GFW. Donovan, for example, is 65 years old and the average life expectancy for males is 80 years old. Considering a lot of these musicians have lived relatively stress free lives after becoming famous/rich, I really doubt they'll all be dropping off before they hit their mid-70s. The Paul McCartney's of the world with excellent access to the best medical, a vegetarian (and very active) lifestyle and tons of great food for decades will likely have no problem reaching 90.

RIP Levon. Ever since discovering The Band a year and a half ago your music has changed my life. From the brilliant Music From Big Pink to the Brown Album to The Last Waltz you continued to amaze me. Although you've passed on, your music will continue to live on to a whole new generation of listeners and will keep on inspiring others decades from now. Finally and most importantly, thanks for all the music. RIP to a music legend.

Not a huge fan of The Band, but R.I.P., Levon Helm. Cancer is a bitch, so I sympathize with anyone who has to suffer through this disease.

They say deaths come in threes. Well, the music world has had its own recently: Dick Clark, Greg Ham, and now Levon Helm.
