Marilyn McCoo is one of the finest female vocalists of all time. She can sing in my band any day.

As for 5th Dimension, not quite good enough.

They should have gone in just for "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In" and the whole Hair thing

I assume your refering to "Hair" the musical not the single "Hair" which was done by the Cowsills.

Speaking of hair, I never liked the movie. Because I found it to be an inaccurate account of the hippies. If the hippies are represented accurately anywhere it's in the movie Forrest Gump.

They had a ton of hits, one after the other. They were the kind of group your parents would like and that's what kills their chances, but they really dominated the airwaves for a while. Rock and roll is not one kind of music, but a hodgepodge. It's unfair to give extra points for being nasty and perverse. The world needs some cheer once in a while.

That's perhaps the biggest instance of flawed logic I've ever seen on here. My Dad loves Little Richard and my Mom loves Buddy Holly. By your logic this means that neither would have a shot getting into the rock and roll hall of fame, ridiculous.

Nah. No one really gives a damn about them any more.

Last year I got to meet Billy Davis Jr. and Lamont McLemore when they were honored on the St. Louis Walk of Fame. Really great guys who gave their fans the time of day, and never forgot their roots. Frank Sinatra (who called their music 'champagne soul') as well as many legends have praised their work and their mark in American music. I got to talk to their biographer (who wrote the liner notes on some of their compilations) and I asked about the groups' chances for the RRHOF, and he said: 'That's our next project is trying to get them in....'. Best of luck!

Great sunshine pop of the sixties. Fantastic vocal group. Just as good or better than any motown group.
