Tainted Love = NO

they had some of the catchiest tunes of the 80's
sure, they weren't big in the US besides Tainted Love, but they had hits in the rest of the world.

Almond and Ball are probably the most underrated synthpop act ever (they are better than Human League, Depeche Mode, Erasure, New Order, Gary Numan, Heaven 17, ABC, Tears for Fears, etc.)

Now, you're saying Soft Cell is better than a number of other groups you mentioned. I'm just curious, because I don't happen to agree, but just exactly how were they better? You say they had hits everywhere but here...what were they? A lot of groups have hits in Europe, etc... that don't make it here, but surely they would make some rumbling other than "Tainted Love". I would go as far as saying that people in the states would at least have some curiousity as to what they'd follow that up with. Some of the other groups you mentioned managed to put together a string of hits here, as well as worldwide.

My curiosity is piqued...I'd just like some reference that would leave me believing that Soft Cell was head and shoulders above those other groups...

I'll take Tears for Fears over Soft Cell any day.

Their other hits were:
Say Hello, Wave Goodbye
Torch
Soul Inside
What!
Where Did Our Love Go
Bedsitter
Numbers
Barriers

Liam? No... that logic is too stupid even for him.

Sorry, nobody is going with you on the whole "Soft Cell owns all 80's, noobz" attitude. My opinion is firm on this, Soft Cell sucks, Tainted Love sucks, and everyone you listed is better.

Come on, name a single ALBUM that Soft Cell did.
And while were at it, try listening to ANY of those bands you listed besides their obvious hits, and compare it to the gay-glorypop that Soft Cell makes.

NO CHANCE IN HELL.
Tainted Love might of been huge, but have they done anything of note since then? No. And if they have, it's not even notable.

There not going to get in, but Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret is an awesome pop album. Sorry, but that wasn't enough.

When I first saw this comment I actually couldn't believe it. mrxyz? The guy who says "1000 times yes" to Country Joe and the Fish and "yes" to Milli Vanilli has not only said "no" to an act (probably the first time I've ever seen him say no to anybody, SRV aside) but "No Chance in Hell" (with caps lock!!). Man, I never thought I would see the day....

Tahvo, it might not have been him posting that. Because, as you said, I've never seen him crap on an act like that.

Wonders never cease :-)

Soft Cell? Sounds like and old jewish woman rambling stream-of-conciousness over popped-up Suicide tracks. No thanks.
