I'll fully admit that Saxon is not well-known in America outside of their niche, which is where the HOF generally focuses, but the committee should consider how influential they were to many great musicians. Metallica et al. have sampled portions of their guitar riffs in their songs over the year, and have credited Paul Quinn and Graham Oliver for inspiration.

Aside from being a foundation to many legendary acts, they clearly have a plethora of great songs with a unique range. Biff Byford's vocal range goes from Osbourne-esque wails to a bluesy feel. The only criticism given to them were some of the albums they produced in the latter half of the eighties, but find an artist in HOF that had an immaculate record for work. The first four albums alone, I feel, are strong enough to validate them into HOF status.

I think it would be beneficial for the committee to check them out, as well as some other niche scene bands, to recognize them for their talent.
