The 1st female rappers to go platinum. Creative, innovative, original and well deserving of an induction.

lol ok maybe they're the 1st female RAPPPERS to go platinum, but last time I checked this is the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.

salt 'n pepa laid the ground work for ALL the female rappers that followed; if they'res no SnP then theres possibly no missy elliot.

for that reason alone SnP deserves enshrinement

Why is everyone so biased against hiphop and r&b?

They do meet the "Blondie standard" and they were historically significant as a pioneering female hiphop artists. Worse acts have made it in, but they don't quite make the grade, mostly because they didn't last lost enough.

They were cheese-pop-rap. If we're going to coronate female hip-hoppers, I'd say MC Lyte ... Queen Latifah ... maybe even Yo-Yo before I'd even mention SnP.

MC Lyte and Queen Latifah, yes, but not Yo-Yo.

They weren't even the first female rappers to go platinum.....that would be JJ Fad and 'Supersonic'.

I agree with mike. Queen Latifah and MC Lyte are definitely in the conversation before Salt n Pepa.

Salt N Pepa were the first female rappers with a platinum album. These young ladies put in the work back then to make themselves viable in the male dominated field and then they turned to writing and producing themselves, which female rappers do not do at all, and prduced their biggest hits. If any rapper deserves the induction, its these ladies. Love them.

Most definitely they deserve a place in the rock hall. They were one of the best selling and longest lasting rap act of their Era . Not to mention their influence expanded far beyond rap.
