It is about time for the Rock n Roll Hall of fame to induct Roy Buchanan.
What are they waiting for?
He has been eligible since the first inductions, his first studio recording was with Dale Hawkins back in 1957 on a song called "My Babe".
Way before there was a Link Wray, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Pete Townsend or Bob Dylan.

Roy Buchanan, in my opinion, is in the top three guitar players of all time.
The other two are both included in the list above.

Roy Buchanan has been long overlooked for inclusion in the Hall of Fame. Perhaps because he didn't follow the usual path and avoided stardom, he is known as the ''best unknown guitarist in the world'' . His career spanned the late 1950s as a teenager until his early death 30 years later. He was undoubtedly the world's pre-eminent Telecaster exponent with an unmistakeable sound. Roy mentored Robbie Robertson and was the inspiration for countless guitarists. Martin Scorsese asked Robbie's musical advice for the movie ''The Departed''. He selected Roy's ''Sweet Dreams'' - the movie ends and the credits roll. I have listened to his ''Sweet Dreams'' thousands of times, and it never fails to bring out the emotions. I have asked my guitarist son to ''play it like Roy'' at my funeral.

I guess one must have radio hits and a publicist or agent that gets you known. I'm 67 years old and have been listening to Roy since I was about 25. That he is never mentioned in top 5 or 10 lists is almost criminal. Should be in top 2-4. Most people I know have never heard of Roy and are blown away when they finally hear him.

How powerful was Roy Buchanan's guitar playing? In 1973 he played at a small college in the East. He started his one man concert with 'Johnny B. Goode'. Half way through the song the small audience got up simultaneously and rushed the stage. A case of mass hysteria. He never finished the song and left the stage immediately for his own safety. From a cold start to instant crazy. That's the power he had.

The credibility of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is seriously lacking for not having inducted Roy Buchanan because he inspires several guitarists who are HOF inductees.

I was first introduced to Roy Buchanan as a freshman in High school. Of course we listened to a lot of other Blues, Rock, soul artists. But when I heard his guitar cry on"The Messiah will come again." I was hooked. His mastery of the Blues guitar

Chilled from the first time I heard him. Oh please give him his due. Losing Jeff Beck this year just puts an urgency on this, future guitarists need this...time's running.

One of the greatest if not the greatest guitar player of all time. He never got his due which is a shame. But there are plenty of people out there that know his genius. His work on harmonics is unmatched.

I remember listening to Roy at The Syria Mosque in Pittsburgh in the early '70s and was absolutely blown away. The fire in his fingers and his head was so casual but it was like a machine gun full of the most beautiful notes. I just had a drink and was listening to him 50 years later and still amazing. Please let him in the Hall ASAP Rocker McCrady
