I haven't heard enough of the Big Bopper to really make a judgement call here, & this says something more about the Bopper's influence. I understand he did more than "Chantilly Lace", and I could probably wander over to Youtube & find something there. All I know him for is "Chantilly Lace", & in reality I know that's all a lot of folks know him for.

It's the equivalent of the Sweet. Nobody outside the diehards know them for anything more than "Ballroom Blitz", though maybe "Fox on the Run" is somethng they heard, but can't place the artist. There's just simply not enough, even w/a built-up backstory, to get the Bopper in.

If he was inducted I wouldn't have any issue, but I can't see it happening anytime soon.

Cheesie - everyone who lived in the 70's knows "Little Willy"

I am a diehard Sweet fan.

Valens also had "C'mon Let's Go" which I can see as being a pretty influential piece of guitar work (though I don't play guitar, just hearing it makes me wish I'd learned it). He also had "Donna" and "Framed," the latter became a hit for Cheech And Chong. It was kind of a smirk for me when Ricky Martin called him the "REAL Latin revolution" but whatever, I'm glad he's in, and hope to see the Bopper in too.

Richie Valens belongs in just by virtue of his performance at Woodstock. It was very influential.
