Paul Rodgers (The Voice) has sung and written some of the classic songs of Rock and Roll. His unique voice has influenced a whole generation of singers. Paul has been the lead singer and sonwriter in some great bands including Free, Bad Company and the The Firm. His solo career is still going strong and he helped bring Queen back to life with a great tour that was magical. They are now recording a new CD of all new material. When you look at the full breadth of Paul's work over 40+ years in the business and the great long-lasting music he helped create, he certainly deserves induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I'd induct him with either Free or Bad Company or both

I have been a fan of Paul Rodgers since the early 70's, and have followed his career through Free, Bad Company, The Firm, his solo work, and his work more recently with Queen + Paul Rodgers. I just recently saw him in Ft. Lauderdale with Bad Company, and his voice is still as pure and soulful as ever. His voice and music have definitely made a significant impact in the music world and he most surely must be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.

The greatest R&R voice ever! I have been a fan since his days with Free. I saw Bad Company on their first tour of the US in Austin, TX at UT stadium in 1974 and it was great! They were part of ZZ Top's Texas BBQ and Barndance concert. Of course, BC was the best of them all. One of the coolest parts was when Jimmy Page came out surprising everyone paying guitar. Paul Rodgers deserves to be in the HOF now!

With Free or Bad Company, yes. Paul as a solo act, no.

The Rock N roll hall of fame needs to have a spot for singers such as Paul Rogers and Ronnie James Dio. Guys who have sang for multi groups.

IMO, Rich, this is what they should be using the "Lifetime Achievement" category for. Won't happen, though.

I can't believe that Paul Rodgers is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He is the voice - I can not believe that he was passed over for the black eyed peas? That's just horrible!

The Black Eyed Peas are not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They just participated in their 25 anniversary concert. Might they get in some day, yes. Paul Rodgers as a solo singer has no reason to be in. I agree with the idea of letting in singers who have been members of multiple bands, maybe they should have a category like sidemen.

the rock and hall of fame is a disgrace! paul rodgers and bad co should be be in before most!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Hall cannot be taken seriosly until Rodgers is in! Anyone who knows anything about music over the last 4 decades can attest to it. IMO, the greatest rock vocalist of all time!

In with Free and/or Bad Company. Not solo.

Dennis DeYoung of Styx has replaced Paul Rogers of Free and Bad Company as the lead singer for Queen.

I agree that the RRHF can't be taken seriously until Rodgers is inducted. The honor is too long missing!

I'm a professional singer. I was enormously influenced by Paul Rodgers. In fact, I may not be a singer today if it had not been for Paul. His soulfulness, voice tones, vocal range, and his power are unmatched. His melodies are tasteful and full of heart. He is clearly one of the best rock singers ever. Frankly, I think he is THE BEST! Nobody writes and sounds like Paul Rodgers. This man MUST be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!

Paul Rodgers is a very good singer, but there is no way that he should be inducted as a solo performer. I think that Bad Company has a legitimate claim to get into the Hall someday, but there are many bigger omissions right now than Bad Company/Paul Rodgers.

Posted by Gassman on Monday, 09.13.10 @ 12:26pm

Arguably the greatest rock singer of not just his generation, but any. Frontman of such bands as Free, Bad Company, The Firm with Jimmy Page and Queen + Paul Rodgers.

Singer of many rock greats, such as "All Right Now", "Wishing Well", "The Hunter", "My Brother Jake", "Bad Company", "Can't Get Enough", "Rock N Roll Fantasy", "Rock Steady", "Feel Like Makin' Love", "Ready For Love", "Shooting Star", "Movin' On", "Midnight Moonlight Lady".

"Everyone knows Paul Rodgers is one of the greatest singers in the world. What they are only just waking up to is that there may never be another like him." - Mick Wall, Classic Rock Magazine.

"Paul Rodgers was the definitive frontman. His presence, his total command of the stage all came together ... and then there was his voice - one of the greatest." - Ronnie James Dio.

"Paul Rodgers has been, and still is by far, one of the finest talents of our musical genre." - Jimmy Page.

"We loved Free, we adored them ... I still think Paul Rodgers is one of the best singers around." - Rod Stewart.

"Simply the greatest rock / blues singer alive." - Brian May.

No way should Paul Rodgers go in solo, I would have no problem seeing him in with either Free or Bad Company though.

Posted by Tahvo Parvianen on Sunday, 03.6.11 @ 11:44am

To Gassman:

Name a larger ommision than R Rodgers.

The "Hall" is not a total joke but they are
working on it. Patti Smith and The Clash are
inducted before Rodgers. Unreal!

What is the delay! Induct Paul Rodgers already! His contribution to music as we know it is unarguable. His voice is incredible.

Rock and Roll Hall of shame, it should be. Paul Rodgers is long overdue for induction. Best rock blues singer ever. Loved him since Free. Saw him in concert many times, and he gets better and better. Free, Bad Company and The Firm should be in the Hall of Fame. Incredible voice..and songwriter!

Posted by Constance on Thursday, 10.20.11 @ 09:45am

By far, the greatest omission in Hall History. Should be in along with Bad Company at the very least. To some above who don't know - Paul is a great songwriter, not just a vocalist. He can also play the piano and guitar, although you don't see it very often.

I might suggest only one singer EVER in popular music that surpasses Paul, and only because of his range and just slightly more pleasing tone - Marvin Gaye (the gold standard). They are equals in terms of soulfullness and power.

Posted by Don on Thursday, 04.12.12 @ 12:33pm

I think the greatest omission from the Hall of Fame is Paul Rodgers. Free should be in. Bad Company should be in. He should have been inducted twice like Rod Stewart, Eric Claptonm and Paul McCartney, etc... Do the right thing HoF. Put Paul Rodgers in.

Just got tickets to Bad Co and Skynard for July show. Has there ever been a vocalist that sang with more feel than Rodgers? This guy has been a legend for 40yrs. That he isn't in the Hall is beyond belief.

I totally agree with the above comments that it is a crime that Paul Rodgers is not yet in the Hall Of Fame. What a disgrace !!!! So many groups inducted that aren't even in the same league with him.
I just saw him perform with Bad Co. last week.
His voice is still amazing. I have been a fan since the early days, and he is one of the few, of that era, to still sound incredible !!!
PLEASE induct him in 2015 !!!!!!!!

Just love Paul Rodgers. A singing legend and he's in my list of FAVS with Counting Crows, White Lion, Duran Duran, U2, Dokken, Bryan Adams, Natalie Merchant, Scorpions etc. He's one of those singers you have to listen to if you are an afficianado of music. Rodgers elevates any song to great. Like listening to him on Radioactive, Bad Company, All Right Now. Has a bluesy sounding quality to voice. One of the biggest RRHOF snubs. He should be elected before 2020 or there is some explaining to do. KING
