They have done their best to ruin a great and lengthy career so it will be an uphill battle until then. The fact that the hall seems to accept the more commercially appealing helps their chances though.

Hiatus? Are they still a band? That's the question we need ask in looking at something like this. Gwen's solo career has alienated fans of No Doubt by appealing to a bunch of 13 year olds and neglecting the fan base that No Doubt built up as a touring band throughout the ninities. Muscial wise as a group the sound has change and they've abandoned thier 3rd wave ska roots in favor of a modern sound that could work and mean the band's survival for a few more years if they would regroup.

It's too bad they are not really around anymore. Despite being very popular, they were also a very talented, and managed to make honest music that was deep yet digestible at the same time.

I agree with Steve's comment about alienating No Doubt's fanbase. I'm young, but I've been a fan of No Doubt for around ten years. Gwen Stefani came to my area on tour recently, and not only did I purposely not go, it was to avoid screaming little girls. And what do you know? I went to school the next day and I saw over ten girls wearing concert tees. In middle school!

However, if they did get back together and Gwen -please!- stops rapping, I'd see them going in a more reggae influenced sound still. Which in my mind would sound great, but it all depends.

Okay...quasi-Gitarzan loves Stefani so by all means she's a shoo-in!!!!

They might. Gwen really set the bar for what a frontwoman does and their music really, I'm sure, influenced bands to form for the warped tour and alternative rock. So No Doubt gets my vote.

New Album this year! Woot!

Their album is coming up, probably it will higher their changes to get inducted, of course if they get back to their ska/ punk rock roots, otherwise looking from their last album, pop groups are not who should be called HOF ! Overall they are good and talanted ska rock/ alternative rock band however their influence isn't high in direct order. Comeback would make Rock HOF judges to retink if they really belong here, of course depends if it will great...

"Pop groups are not who should be called HOF"

Do I have to post the list AGAIN?

Posted by GFW on Wednesday, 06.27.12 @ 16:57pm

GFW what do you mean with that GFW - please explain to me what list you were talking about ? What I meant was that if "No Doubt" would become another pop rock group like - Maroon 5, Train, Blink 182, Sublime with their new album, then rock and roll hall of fame wouldn't even bother to consider to inducting these kind of music band.

Basically I once made a list of all the acts who we'd have to kick out if the hall was just rock. I think the hall would be fine inducting a once rock then pop group, they've inducted plain pop groups before.

Posted by GFW on Saturday, 06.30.12 @ 18:19pm

Yeah and where is that list... I am not an veteran here, and I see that No Doubt is the only top band, who I categorize as alternative rock band, from 90's like Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Green Day, Nine Inch Nails.. who in terms of talent (songwriting, vocal ability) and technical ability is almost in the same league, however lacks influence. That's the reason why "No Doubt" will unlikely to be inducted, well at least not in their first years of eligibility... Just look at bands like Deep Purple, ELO, Iron Maiden, Kiss etc., they all had talent and success, but the only thing they lacked is direct success, which is why they still are not in...

Returning to your question, No Doubt is not really a pop band at all just because they are pop influenced, that doesn't mean they're pop band at all. They're considered, depends from their albums, as ska punk, alternative rock, raggae pop... however they are not typical pop rock band like Maroon 5, for example, because their instrumental performance is genuine rock to call it pop band, it's just Gwen's persona and vocal ability, what makes it pop rock band...

They better stop with the musical experimentation bullshit and release one or two even just decent album of ska-punk revival then they will be lock in, if not maybe 10-15 years after eligibility should they be considered...

No matter what drama they went through over the years, No Doubt was THE female fronted rock band of the 90's. Everyone knew who they were, they had multiple hits, and no one can deny that Gwen has one hell of a stage presence. Not to mention that they helped bring Ska into the mainstream, even if some people criticized them for it. A lot of bands you see today would not be here if it wasn't for No Doubt.

You must induct a lot of female musicians first. And ska bands, direct influences to No Doubt.

The No Doubt band deserves to be in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame.

One of the most iconic bands

Posted by Amy on Saturday, 09.10.16 @ 20:20pm

No Question that No Doubt should and will find their place in the hall of fame. Iconic, ground-breaking, and incredibly much so...that an album that was released before their breakthrough Tragic Kingdom album, called The Beacon St. Collection, became one of the biggest albums of theirs years after it was recorded and released! Gwen as a solo artist is evaluated as will and should have no impact on the band being inducted soon!

Which letter is Springsteen's band named after?
