Nicky Hopkins was the greatest pianist in the history of rock, there in nobody even close. I discovered his great play on the early Steve Miller Band albums and followed his whole career thereafter. Just beautiful music. I really thought his work with Quicksilver was amazing. He should be in the R&R Hall of Fame, but that institution has always been somewhat of a joke with some of the people they let in and some that they leave out, that it really doesn't matter to true Rock fans who is in and who isn't.

I guess it's easy for the R&RHoF to ignore people like Nicky Hopkins because they aren't smashing guitars or getting arrested, they are just at mid stage consistently making great music. Take his piano work out of his amazing discography and see how many of those songs would have had the commercial success they enjoyed. So I voted yes but in my heart I know the answer is probably no but I don't care because I have his music to enjoy for the rest of my life. RIP Nicky, you are the best!

The year after year failure to induct Nicky Hopkins demonstrates that the Rock Hall has become a complete shitstain.

All of his fans should read his biography (and on piano...Nicky Hopkins by Julian Dawson). I thought I knew his music connections but this book really goes into detail, with a discography that's unbelievable.
He really should be in the R&R HOF. It's a tragedy that he isn't.

Come on ... they are inducting rappers, surely Nicky Hopkins is a no brainer.

My research shows. That Nicky, has more than all the qualifications to be inducted. I am surprised
that many RRHOF inductees have not gotten him in.

I've always known Nicky Hopkins' work with The Rolling Stones - his piano playing is as essential to their late 60's - 70's sound as any full time member of the band's. After reading more about him and his career with so many other bands of the era, it's crystal clear that the man needs to be inducted into the hall of fame, posthumously.
Thanks

I can't believe that Nicky Hopkins hasn't been admitted to the RRFOF. One day I sat down and burnt a bunch of his tunes on a CD. What a great cd.
I'm surprised that the Stones, Steve Miller, and hundreds of other musicians haven't forced the issue. He made so many of their songs great.

Certainly has a case as a sideman.

His 1973 album, The Tin Man is a Dreamer is a great record.

With Billy Preston recently inducted, Nicky can't be too far behind.

The fact that Nicky Hopkins is not in the "Hall" yet as a sideman is criminal! It just goes to show how lame the members of the "Hall" really are! What started out as a project with good intentions has turned into a farce! Musical merit, contributions and influence trumps popularity any day of the week, in my book! His playing enhanced and raised the level of so many major artists' recordings that would have been lesser creations without his musical brilliance! As far as I'm concerned, he was the greatest Rock 'N' Roll studio pianist of all time!
