I would have to vote yes here. Excellent musician, added so much to the groups he played for.

He is definately deserving in the Sideman category. I'm just going to pull out a few names here of several major artists whose albums he has credits on: The Who, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles(and he has credits on Paul, John, Ringo, and George's solo work as well), Jeff Beck, Steve Miller Band, Quicksilver Messenger Service, The Strawbs, Jefferson Airplane, Art Garfunkel, Peter Frampton, Joe Cocker, Rod Stewart, Jerry Garcia, Meat Loaf, Badfinger, Joe Satriani, David Bowie, Gary Moore, Eddie Money, John Kay, Joe Walsh, Marc Bolan, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jack Bruce, Harry Nilsson, Randy Meisner, Carly Simon, Spinal Tap, and many more.

Hopkins would make an excellent sideman inductee. Absolutely no reason to ignore him.

Hopkins doing what he does best on the Quicksilver Messenger Service song "Spindrifter." (From the 1970 QMS album, What About Me)

Nicky Hopkins was the greatest pianist in the history of rock, there in nobody even close. I discovered his great play on the early Steve Miller Band albums and followed his whole career thereafter. Just beautiful music. I really thought his work with Quicksilver was amazing. He should be in the R&R Hall of Fame, but that institution has always been somewhat of a joke with some of the people they let in and some that they leave out, that it really doesn't matter to true Rock fans who is in and who isn't.

I guess it's easy for the R&RHoF to ignore people like Nicky Hopkins because they aren't smashing guitars or getting arrested, they are just at mid stage consistently making great music. Take his piano work out of his amazing discography and see how many of those songs would have had the commercial success they enjoyed. So I voted yes but in my heart I know the answer is probably no but I don't care because I have his music to enjoy for the rest of my life. RIP Nicky, you are the best!

The year after year failure to induct Nicky Hopkins demonstrates that the Rock Hall has become a complete shitstain.
