6 comments so far (post your own)He needs to develop some form of drug habit,or perhaps nuture a habit of domestic abuse. Nice guys finish last in this bidness, their awesome talent and contributions to the art notwithstanding. Posted by Al Spohn on Friday, 07/14/2017 @ 22:56pm |
He is the jukebox. He is a Cash/Carter. He worked a band between multiple contracts with different labels. (Rockpile) He is all the old, new, and the future. If you listen to his catalog and see the players involved, you realize who influenced who. Posted by Burkenbine on Friday, 04/27/2018 @ 01:22am |
According to Will Birch's book on pub rock, No Sleep Till Canvey Island, the royalties from Curtis Stigers' version of the song, "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding", made songwriter Nick Lowe independently wealthy. Stigers' version appeared on the soundtrack album for the 1992 Whitney Houston/Kevin Costner film The Bodyguard, which sold 17 million copies in the United States alone. He should get in for his first two albums alone and his production work.E Posted by David on Tuesday, 07/16/2019 @ 10:37am |
Big oversight for sure. Nick Lowe was/is a highly talented singer/songwriter/producer with an original and distinctive sound. Songs like "Cruel to be kind", "Breaking glass", "So it goes" and "Half a boy, half a man" are power pop gems. He may even have played a part in inventing the power pop genre. i adore NIck Lowe! i sadly dont expect him to be on the nom coms radar but its always possible he could get in as AME for his excellent production career, which is his most likely path to induction and would fit, just like Brian Eno Posted by Will M on Monday, 01/9/2023 @ 11:36am |
