Nick Cave is a dude, dude.

I'm sure there are lots of things you don't know.

I don't think a solo induction is likely, but I also don't know whether The Birthday Party or The Bad Seeds would be his credited backup band.

Awesome, haunting music.

With Kit on this one. If I had my way, both Nick Cave (and The Bad Seeds?) and The Birthday Party would get in, but reality would say neither. If I had to pick between the two, I'd go for The Birthday Party.

Nick Cave and The Bad Seed's new album, Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!, appears to be receiving alot of positive reviews.

Hope it's good!

It hasn't popped up on Rhapsody yet...sometimes they do, sometimes they don't right away. Of course, Janet Jackson's was on there RIGHT NOW (they coulda spared us...UGH!!!)

Liam...on Rhapsody when you go to a particular artist's site it also lists "influences" and "contemporaries". As far as influences go, I don't know if they got the info. from the artist or they're just guessing. That's where the names of these other artists are popping up...your input helps...

...fortunately, "Bros" is nowhere to be found on Rhapsody...lol!!!!

Posted by Terry on Saturday, 03.1.08 @ 09:20am

Liam...has that album actually been released?

Posted by Terry on Saturday, 03.1.08 @ 11:05am

It comes out in a few days. March 3, I think.

Posted by Liam on Saturday, 03.1.08 @ 11:32am

Thanx!!! I'll definitely check it out!!

Posted by Terry on Saturday, 03.1.08 @ 11:34am

I also can't seem to find a page for The Birthday Party, which makes me mad.

God yes

The strength of "Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!" and the amount of time Nick Cave has been writing for secures him as one of the all time greats.

Has anyone else heard the album? It's great!

The only two songs that Rhapsody has posted are "Dig, Lazarus, Dig" and "Accidents Will Happen" both of which are pretty good!!!

Posted by Terry on Sunday, 03.9.08 @ 15:00pm

I know I am six months behind on this one. Nick is supposed to be playing in NY next month, or so I am told.

I am sorry - "Did Lazarus, Dig" sucks and should be buried. All time great Liam - I don't think so. But I am going to try and get tickets for his show and see if a live performance can change my mind a bit.

Get The Best of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. If you don't like any of that, you may as well give up on ol' Nick.

Or maybe you'd prefer him in his 'let's sodomize a priest' incarnation with the Birthday Party, who, incidentally, had the very best post-punk rhythm section

I think I am going to give his live show a shot and see how I like it, but I really was not impressed with what I have heard so far from his last release. That Lazurus track just doesn't work for me.

I cannot wait for the Gang of Four show with orchestra. The last time I saw them was at the Ritz when they were supposedly doing their last show ever. That had to be over 20 years ago.

After a bit of a wait I see the Bad Seeds going in the way Leonard Cohen did, popping up unexpectedly on the ballot one year and getting their due. (Ditto Tom Waits, Billy Bragg and Scott Walker.) Figuring out which Bad Seeds go in with Mr. Cave will be entertaining.

Well, he just about crushes John Lennon's solo career, which of course means he'll never be inducted. Fix his induction to coincide with that of Mr. Waits and I'll gladly pay any sum to see the show.

Jack, do you know Liam? You guys seem to have a lot in common.

Hahahahahaha!!

Over 20, I fear you've gotten rusty.

Posted by Jack on Monday, 02.2.09 @ 14:46pm

Well, he was inducted in the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2007, which if I'm not mistaken is kind of an Australian equivalent to the HOF. If you know about him though, you know he doesn't really like these kind of...things, I recall he wasn't particularly ecstatic about being inducted in the ARIA Hall either.

He's deserving of the kind of recognition though, I probably wouldn't be surprised if they eventually considered him. But at this point he's such a huge legend he just doesn't need it

Well Darin, you predicted the future. It happened to Tom Waits this year let's just hope it'll happen to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds soon (And Billy Bragg and Scott Walker too).

I can't believe the Album Project hasn't inducted any Nick Cave albums yet.

Enjoyed this little blurb about Nick Cave's response to MTV about a VMA nomination for Murder Ballads in 1996.

"I can't believe the Album Project hasn't inducted any Nick Cave albums yet."

A very disengenuous thing to say.

Posted by Chalkie on Wednesday, 10.10.12 @ 00:25am

Chalkie, I made that comment before Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! was inducted.

Posted by Tahvo Parvianen on Wednesday, 10.10.12 @ 03:00am

With The Bad Seeds, YES.

Posted by BulmaPunkRocker on Sunday, 07.6.14 @ 22:31pm

There should be two pages: Nick Cave and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Posted by Roy on Wednesday, 07.30.14 @ 15:56pm

Actually, just adding the Bad Seeds to this page would be sufficient. Nick Cave has never really done anything of note under just his own name.

The Birthday Party, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Grinderman and Nick Cave & Warren Ellis are the names of the acts that he created notable work with as a member.

Posted by DarinRG on Wednesday, 07.30.14 @ 19:50pm

This entry should read Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Posted by Roy on Thursday, 09.11.14 @ 13:15pm

Nick Cave's US network television debut, (10 years into the Bad Seeds' career) on Letterman, but Paul Shaffer was a Bad Seed for the night. That amuses me in a good way.
