Since "Little Steven" Van Zandt is on the nominating committee, I thought they'd be a shoo-in...!!!!

Don't say that too loud, it might just be an oversight that they'll most assuredly correct!!!!

Jann Wenner and the Ertegun bros are in, so I wouldn't be surprised if Little Steven also gets in sometime

Steven Van Zandt has been a retarding presence on the nominating committee. Direct quote -- "It's very difficult for me to justify the Talking Heads being in the Hall of Fame before The Hollies...".
I also seem to remember him making the comment about the 80's being a synth drenched music wasteland (which is ironically when the E street band was vaulted into international superstardom with such synth-assisted hits as "Dancing in the Dark" and "Born in the U.S.A"). I take it that "Little Steven" never listened to Husker Du, the Replacements, Sonic Youth, R.E.M., the Minutemen, Dinosaur Jr, or the Smiths (to name a few).
I think it's time for some of these guys to move ahead with their antiquated views on popular music.

I think by that comment, he was referring more to acts like Tears For Fears, Simple Minds, Thompson Twins, A Flock Of Seagulls, etc. And he's absolutely right in that regard.
