"F;yin' Home" with its iconic tenor saxophone solo by Illinois Jacquet, set the standard for all those saxophone breaks in the '50s and beyond. The material in that song set the parameters for 100s of r&b jams during that era. Or check out "Hey Ba Ba Rebop" (if you hunt for them, you might find all the unexpurgated choruses), a classic of 40s r&b that crossed over to the pop charts, and prepared American ears for the revolution to come. There's much more proto r&r gold to be mined from his body of work. Your ears will tell you how to vote if you give them a chance.
