In a male dominated, black and white world of hip hop, Lil' Kim gave us color. Her voice was truly special at the time of her debut for she was a pioneer in bridging high end fashion and hip hop music. Her hyper sexual lyrics, risqué high end fashion became a popular aesthetic that is still the predominant in today's culture. Lil' Kim is a feminist movement in hip hop and rap. Embracing sexuality, not only did she go toe to toe with male rappers, Lil' Kim's unique impact continues to influence and empower the female MC.

Lil Kim created the blueprint for female rap. Rappers like Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Doja Cat, Meg The Stallion, and etc are still using her blueprint till this day. She paved the way for female rappers to feel sexually liberated and to own it. Kim's debut album is the female rap Bible and its still being imitated 20 plus years later. Not only did she heavily influence the women, she also influenced men by incorporating the fashion world into rap. Now all these rappers are sitting front row at fashion shows, thanks to the Queen Bee. Lil Kim definitely deserves to be inducted.

Kim is a trailblazer. She is easily one of the most influential people in fashion AND music, PERIOD. Her style birthed a whole generation of female artists. She broke down the barriers for female artists to be able to openly embrace their sexuality in their music. I mean, this woman rapped as hard as the greatest men, & even THEY recognized that. Lil' Kim is one of my biggest inspirations. When I first started listening to her music in high school (around 2012), I was flabbergasted and amazed with her raunchy lyrics. At that time, I thought that her music I was listening to must've been new because it seemed progressive for a woman to be talking about her body in that way, but low and behold it was her Hardcore album from '95. Kim was ahead of her time, fearless and has opened so many doors for the female rap game. Her sense of style is impeccable - she is a fashion icon and is so unique. Her performances were just as amazing because she had such great energy and wasn't afraid to get buck. She would be stepping out in a cute little outfit but would always still go hard. Kim was talented and fly, we all know that. But, at the end of the day, the thing that makes her so great is that she is a humble and extremely genuine person. She has a good heart and is such a success because of her kindness. She will forever be iconic and loved ❤️

Lil Kim has always shined so bright and clear in an industry that is male dominated. She has crossed genres in music, like the collab with Tommie Lee "Get Naked" or like "Lady Maralade". She made a huge mark in fashion, eventhough she is only 4'11 she graced many runways, been featured in fashion campaigns. She took a stab at acting. Because of her range I believe she changed the landscape of music,

I don't think everybody understands what this woman has done to the female rap game, as everyone has stated above, it was a male dominated category field genre, and kim came on the seams in the 1990s and she wrecked the whole male rap game up! I consider Beyonce to be a big fan and critique of musical culture. If Beyonce recognized Lil Kim's contribution to hip-hop, then it's decided. Nov 3rd 2017 Beyonce declared "Lil Kim Appreciation Day". Beyonce specifically stated "Hip-hop would not be the same without our original Queen Bee".

Kim has paved the way for most female rappers by creating a lane that was no even there. She started the sexy gangsta persona. She basically combined the styles of her predecessors Salt N Pepa and MC Lyte and took it up a couple of notches. No prior to Kim to was talking sexy and raunchy while still standing toe to toe lyrically with her male counterparts. She is a trendsetter. Looking at all of the female rappers today is like looking at Lil Kim in 90s. Colorful wigs, minks, designer clothes in hip hop was started by Lil Kim. She is THAT BITCH point blank period. It's time she is inducted in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame right next to her mentor the Notorius BIG.

Lil' Kim is the grandmother of all the rap girls that are currently reigning now. Nicki Minaj is the mother but Lil' Kim birthed Nicki. She had had an influence on major pop acts like Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Beyoncé which that later two have publicly acknowledged In the last few years. There's no denial that she's held it down over the years against her male counterparts and has also been part of some of the biggest moments in hip hop. This includes but isn't limited to: the east coast vs. west coast beef where we saw two musical greats lose their lives (Biggie & Tupac). She was part of the Puff Daddy Bad Boy moment of the 90s. She was the leader in merging the world of high end, luxury fashion and hip hop. The Foxy Brown & Lil' Kim beef is a classic moment in hip hop in itself. And let's be honest, the blue print of the "female rapper look" came from Lil' Kim. When she started getting plastic surgery in the 90s, it was taboo and not popular in hip hop or the Black Community. Now, there isn't a female rapper who is at the top who hasn't had work done... Kim mad this possible. And lastly, many of the make rap greats that are coming up, females too, acknowledged Kim's contribution to not just hip hop, but to music. Kim is an ICON, Kim is hip hop, Kim is music... Kim is the original Queen B (hey... even Beyoncé said it!!)

Lil' Kim is not only an icon in hip hop and a talented lyricist setting the bar for female rappers today but a cultural and feminist icon worldwide! She pushed boundaries, knocked down doors and continues to evolve after 25 years of her career. We are lucky to have such a true living legend among us.

Lil Kim the Queen Bee literally is the Blue Print for modern day female rap, she influenced more than women in rap, she influenced culture and challenged and broke through barriers that were placed on women. When you think of the phrase "cultural reset" there is non other more worthy of the phrase then Lil Kim herself. Her impact on society can not be denied, she is hiphop, and she is femininity. She is an icon and a trail blazer for women period and for that she deserves to be inducted into the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame.

Just a quick PSA for some...A 5 second Google search provides ample examples that Lil' Kim is very well respected in the industry, is more than worthy of a Rock Hall conversation and has an incredible amount of influence. To all of those grousing about her fans advocating for her rightful consideration and how "they" are "hurting" your space, the last I checked, this is a public forum and not a whites only country club. It's a music discussion forum, she's a music artist, and she's being discussed. Everyone has the right to post here and provide their perspective, and those perspectives should be welcomed. Who knows, you might actually learn something outside of your bubble. If you're that upset about people advocating for black women, you might want to do some inner reflection about that.

When I first heard rap on "Get Money" with the Late Great Biggie I know at just 10 years old she was a Living Legend on the way. Just prove that deepest intuition was MORE THAN RIGHT. If you ever take the time to invest in hip hop music history, then you will know who lil' Kim is. There are many rappers today trying to all be different, original, great, most have fail, some succeed due to generation fan base. But their are very few, that not only succeeded but inspired people to be themselves. One that comes to mind is lil' Kim. She change everything back in 1996, her lyrics showed male rappers that not only shock you but was greater than her counterparts. Fashion, sex, lyrically great, was the new perspective and this woman brought it to hip hop. The ones that came after her should not be considered for rock hall of fame for they are simply creations of lil' Kim. She started the movement, and is till this day a great lyricalist. All hail the real original queen of rap, the one and only, Lil' Kim.
