I thought he was in already. I'm totally shocked that he isn't, and that you've ranked his percentage so low.

Some of the comments regarding Kenny Loggins discography consisting mainly of movie soundtracks are way off base. His musical contributions starting from his days with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, the Loggins and Messina series of platinum albums and songs he's written covered by myriad artists - from Anne Murray (Danny's Song) to Michael McDonald (What a Fool Belives) to a classic children's song, "House at Pooh Corner" qualify him long before Top Gun, Caddyshack, et al. Sorry, kids. You may not be old enough to appreciate his talent.

Bill
Really it should be Loggins & Messina,, As great as Kenny is, they laid it down,,, Messina was his mentor and they had the better tunes as a whole... IMO

Kenny Loggins is much more than his soundtrack songs.
Loggins and Messina , Celebrate Me Home then later additional songs that have been the soundtrack I have grown with and loved for decades. If rap can be in the Hall why can't
The beautiful words and melodies of Kenny Loggins? Kenny Loggins should be judged on his huge body of work, his beautiful voice and his decades of staying power.

My first concert was seeing Loggins & Messina. Both Kenny and Jimmy are great singers, musicians and songwriters. The duo and Kenny solo have very complicated instruments solos. I loved every song on Celebrate Me Home and bought all the albums after. I preferred his music that was not movie themes. Saw Kenny Loggins 12 times so he kept me entertained! He's more versatile because he sings with other artist of all styles. Michael McDonald, Stevie Nicks, Steve Perry, Crosby and Nash, and more. His voice range is incredible. Everyone has their taste, but I believe Kenny Loggins deserves to be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.

For anyone thinking Kenny Loggins best work was his movie soundtrack songs, I'd venture you're under the age of 40. Well before Footloose, Top Gun and Caddyshack, Loggins was writing great songs often covered by the best of the best recording artists (some in the Hall of Fame themselves). Sad that his some of his popular songs happened to find themselves perfect for movies is seen as a detriment to a great body of work.

Loggins and Messina were a very successful, popular act.
Worth a second look. Some “light” material, but also some strong material.

I'm surprised 'Angry Eyes' isn't on the Essential Songs list. Their best, IMO.

The most awesome concert I ever attended was a Kenny Loggins concert about ten years ago. His voice is incredible (still is) and I found out afterward that he had a cold. Truly amazing. He had people dancing in the aisles. I hadn't expected to come away as such a fan. I'd induct him into the R&R Hall of Fame in a heartbeat.

To all that think Kenny Loggins movie soundtracks are cheesy. Well that comes with the territory. My first concert was Loggins and Messina and I loved the unique music that they played together. I always get excited if I hear there songs on the radio. Radio stations would not play there stuff if fans disliked it. Love all the slow ballads, Vahevala, Angry Eyes.......and many more. They are pure experienced musicians. When Kenny's "Celebrate Me Home" I liked every single song off that album. I prefer mellow rock and that genre should not be ignored. Never tired of Kenny, he knew how to play the audience.....l saw him 12 times and love the experience. I don't like whoever says he doesn't add up to a R&R HoF. He's been around and has shared music with so many people in the industry. So what if he likes to write for newborns or write sweet Christmas tapes. I can listen to them over. THIS MUSICIAN IS AS DIVERSE AS YOU CAN GET. I love Whitney Houston but Kenny and Jimmy have contributed much more to rock and roll!

Kenny should absolutely be in the hof. After 48 years of wonderful music it is a shame that he isn't.
I have seen him 43 times dating back to 1973 (8 times with Jim Messina). He and Michael McDonald are my two favorite vocalists.

One of the main things that I want to say is that everyone is entitled to their own opinion! I was baffled when Cheap Trick was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016. I remember when I was 12, and went to my first real rock concert, Kansas. (David Cassidy when I was 8 didn't count.) I felt sorry for them because they were booed off the stage. but later they must have had many followers because they went to the Hall of Fame.
I personally love Kenny Loggins. I think he is a very talented artist with a wonderful voice (still even though he is in his 70s). It is great! And he's physically in shape, not a thing many younger artists can say). His music has spanned over 40 years, and included songs from many different genres not just movie soundtracks, but rock, folk, pop, children's, and recently even country music. His song Convictions of the Heart was used in a National Environmental Campaign. He has written with and for many artists, and is respected by many other artists in the music industry including, but not restricted to Stevie Nicks, Michael McDonald, and Stephen Stills. Listen to his "Outside; From the Redwoods" concert. It's soo good, especially "I'm Alright". I don't know how he hit those notes in the beginning!
But, what I want to know is why is "songwriting, slipping in the the back door"? Why is writing great songs less of a feat than just playing them? Especially, when the artist does both so well. Talent is talent! And if you can do both, then it's actually better.
OK, I get it, maybe Kenny Loggins is not your cup of tea, but that doesn't mean he is not a great and deserving entertainer!

Judy Percy, your comment is spot on. I really wonder why he hasn't been inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

It is insane that Kenny Loggins has not been recognized for the musical genius that he is. Good God. Those songs listed here are not even what he is about. Does anyone even LOOK at his body of work. Come on. Go to the Redwoods.

The rock hall of fame is blasphemous. Kenny Loggins, Christopher Cross, Michael McDonald (as a solo artist), etc., ain't in the rock hall of fame? That's blasphemy.

Kenny should be inducted. He is still touring and has many songs that should be recognized. He is a legend, and one of the most gifted singer songwriters in the music industry.

The body of work of Kenny Loggins is a beautiful piece of life… for Kenny Loggins not to be included in the rock 'n' roll Hall of Fame is not only a disgrace to the rock hall of fame … but a disgrace to the millions of fans over the past 45 years…. if you have not ever listen to a Kenny Loggins recording I highly recommend that you do because the moment you do you will see the genius of this man ….. and I refuse to watch any more rock 'n' roll Hall of Fame inductees until Kenny Loggins is inducted into the rock 'n' roll Hall of Fame!!!

I agree that Kenny Loggins should be in the Hall of Fame. Don't hold the soundtracks against him!

Loggins is a beautiful singer , songwriter and musician. I've been enjoying to his music since the 70's. Celebrate Me Home is still one of my favorite albums. I don't know how they measure admission but Kenny Loggins has met all of the criteria as far as I am concerned.

The "HOF tracker" in this article says that Loggins didn't win a "big 4" grammy. Not true. "What a Fool Believes" was song of the year in 1980. It was also record of the year, but of course that went to the Doobie Brothers, not Loggins.

I'm totally amazed after over (50) years of contributions to the music industry, KENNY LOGGINS has NOT been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Not because of musical contributions as Footloose, Top Gun, House on Pooh Corner alone would have put him there, but because of POLITICAL reasons. He's pissed someone off along his journey. Kenny just finished his LAST TOUR and is retiring. He will be sorely missed. RRHOF. SHAME ON YOU! Fans expect more integrity than that.

For Kenny Loggons to not be in the Rock & Roll HOF is a travesty. That very talented man has a lifetime of accomplishments which I believe surpass many existing HOF members. I have attended many of his concerts and enjoyed them immensely. As an old fart I still listen to his songs frequently with my favorite being "Whenever I call you friend" with Stevie Nix. It is never too late to induct Kenny Loggins in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
