50 Years Later: Voices of the March on Washington. I think Joan Baez will be nominated soon.

When asked on twitter if Phil Ochs, Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Peter, Paul and Mary and the Kingston Trio should be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, Robert Hilburn responded:

I think Joan Baez is long overdue for rock hall of fame induction...she helped open the way for rock as social force.

I guess this means he doesn't support inductions for Phil Ochs, Judy Collins, Peter, Paul and Mary and the Kingston Trio.

Joan Baez

Eligible since: 1985

Argument for induction: Joan Baez was there (at just 19 years old, no less) at the first Newport Folk Festival in 1959, marched with Martin Luther King Jr. for civil rights, was the face of the early Sixties folk boom introduced Bob Dylan to the masses and, with 1975's Diamonds & Rust, composed a classic title track that was subsequently covered by no less than Judas Priest. Baez was a force vocally, musically and politically amidst a male-dominated folk scene, and remains striking talent today.

I think it's a shame that so many don't know the true history of rock music or music in general and it's obvious neither do those that have a position of power in these matters. How can I say this because if they did Joan Baez would be in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Rock music is a rebels call and no one in the industries history was or is that more than her. Willing to stand alone or united she always stood for what she believe to be right, in the face of ignorance or misguided patriotism, willing to be kicked,spat-on,thrown in jail, or even have bombs dropped on her while recording an album. She took on the beliefs of Gandhi marched with Dr. King and Cesar Chavez and took on so many of the worlds injustices. As person she is my hero dedicating her life to the cause of peace. That's just a small back drop to her music career, for the pure beauty of her voice she should be in the Hall fame and though she did'not write most of the songs she recorded, her interpretations are stellar and you'll be hard press to find anyone that can pick a guitar as well. Yes Rolling Stone magazine almost got it right naming Bob Dylan the second greatest artist of all time but totally blew it on the best Dylan covers of all time leaving Baez off the list. I guess they never heard her perform Forever Young,Blow'n In the Wind,Love Is Just A Four Letter Word and in my humble opinion the greatest love song of all time Sad Eye Lady Of The Lowlands as performed by Miss Baez. Two of her few songs she did pen (Diamonds and Rust) and (Sweet Sir Galahad) place her artistically far above those inducted on popularity, though as often with the passing of time history is rewritten and few remember just how well know she was world wide and though not the voice of a generation she was the backbone or you could say the boots on the ground. So as it goes with a corporate run media nation passing off scum like Ronald Reagan as a hero and erasing a history based on facts, you know like the Nixon tapes,I give the Hall little respect until the halve have the balls of Joan Baez and induct her.

My passion got the best of me once again. Maybe because it was my first time commenting on any site though I'm considering a Toad Man blog to boast my stinky opinions. I meant to say half the balls, only if I did I would be a better man. Hey let's get Leonard Cohen in also.

You would think she is one of those artists the Rock Hall would be in a mad rush to induct.

I believe that Joan Baez has not been inducted yet because she's a woman. The music she's created and her social activities are comparable to many men who are her peers and many were inducted years ago.

Once again, rock and roll is presenting itself as "a bad boys' club" and most women who aren't "hell-raisers" or "pin up babes" aren't receiving the recognition of their peers. I believe that is cruelest cut of all.

Jackson Browne Inducts Joan Baez into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame - 2017

Nobody was beating the drum for Joan Baez? Are you kidding me?

I know a very excellent ENT I could recommend to Troy L Smith because the call for Joan Baez was loud and clear.

Maybe the problem is that these so called journalists are nothing more than brown nose bots taking their marching orders from the nom com.

Maybe they should get stop interviewing a bunch of kids who have been programed by jw and have no clue what r&r really is. Maybe if they interviewed artist from the era they would find out how the nom com is in very serious trouble with legitimate members of the voting body.

WHY DO YOU NOT REPORT ON DEMANDS FOR OVERSIGHT OF THE NOM COM?
