Although Linda Ronstadt and ONJ were riding high on the charts in 1975, it was Janis Ian who won the 1975 Best Pop Vocal Performance Female Grammy. And she did it with a self-penned song, "At Seventeen" The two aforementioned ladies didn't write their own songs. Janis Ian was also the first musical guest on "SNL" in 1975.

Janis Ian wrote and recorded one of the most important songs in the history of Rock and Roll - Society's Child. At 14 no less! So, what does it take to get her into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

I'm reading Janis Ian's autobiography and she has done so much more songwriting and music than I realized! She also is an excellent musician and an important part of our music history.! Please induct Janis into the Hall of Fame.

Janis Ian's longevity in the music biz alone should be grounds for induction into the RRHF. But as a 10-time Grammy nominee, 2-time winner - excluding additional Grammys for "Between the Lines" engineering, etc. - this musical genius would be a shoo-in, were she a man. That she is a woman of this musical standing and accomplishment says everything about her commitment to her craft but also to her indomitable spirit in a heretofore sexist industry.
