You know, there are some things on this site that irk me a bit, and it has to do with some of the people who vote here. A band like Coven or an artist like Britney Spears get between 4000-5000 yes votes while an influential guitarist like Hank Marvin gets 23 votes with 78% of them saying no. I'm not saying Hank Marvin should get in solo but his band the Shadows should get in with Cliff Richard has the introducers/originators of Rock & Roll in Great Britain which fathered the British Invasion. Well I guess it doesn't matter if you influenced everyone from Pete Townshend to Mark Knopfler, John Fogerty to Neil Young or Frank Zappa to Carlos Santana. If people haven't heard of you you're getting a "no" vote while someone with marginal credentials like Debbie Gibson gets 1400 yes votes. Some may argue that "well it is called the Rock & Roll Hall of FAME" but "Fame" isn't criteria and even if it was, Cliff Richard and the Shadows were very big in their time (Before my time, but from what I've heard) so there goes that argument. In any way, my argument is probably going to fall on deaf ears as the voting total for the Backstreet Boys approaches 4600, with over 70% of these being "yes." Sad, yes but what I can do about it?

Don't be too dishearted Tahvo. Could Debbie Gibson carry a world wide tour in massive venues including several consecutive days at Wembley Area and the 02 Arena? The Shadows did on their own about 6yrs back, and followed with a similar complete sellout with Cliff Richard. Look down the "Biggest Snubs" list on this site and you'll scroll past some fantastic influential bands. The problem is with the Rock n Roll Hall of fame - not the artistes. It's thin and meaningless.

As long as The Ventures have been been included and The Shadows have not it's all too obvious that this American self-centerd society of geografically limited, internal admiration is worthy of no respect.
