Remember, "innovation and influence" are critical factors.

Well they did basically invent lo-fi rock and also they were one of the most influential indie bands of the 90's. Though they will probably never get in, they deserve to get in, and some of their suff has been displayed in the Ohio section of the Rock and Roll hall of fame.

Couldn't really give them credit for "inventing" lo-fi, but they were very prominent in the lo-fi movement. Bee Thousand and Alien Lanes are both filled with some of the strangest and catchiest pop masterpieces of the '90s, and two of my all-time favorite albums.

No chance of induction, but I can wish.

Bee Thousand is an incredible record. It's consistently rated one of the top albums from the 90's, so I think they will have to seriously be considered for the Rock Hall. Bob Pollard is an artistic genius and deserves recognition.

Too obscure. Never goanna happen.

This is very sad because there are few bands who embody the notion of Rock and Roll more than GBV. It's all about 3 mintue pop singles, distortion pedals and copious amounts of alcohol.

Also, Bob Pollard can swing a microphone better than anybody in the history of the world.

Great band - love them. They belong but unfortunately will never see the light of day at the Hall.

If there's a god, GBV will be inducted. Bob Pollard is an artistic genius and even if it takes 50 years he will be widely recognized as such.

Without question, Guided by Voices ought to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The only reason they shouldn't be in there is because they inspire a bunch of really terrible bands who pollute the airwaves. But based on the material they put out, they need to be enshrined.

hell yes, will they i am afraid not, but this a band (ok person, bob) that is what rock and roll is all about, just the love of it, that never give up do it yourself spirt is rock and roll, not rock props, models and tight jeans, GBV is all rock and no fluff.

Interestingly enough, there has been an increase in mainstream exposure for GBV as of late (albeit small increase). Maybe it has just taken awhile for them to cut through all the garbage on the airwaves. There are fans all around the world.

I'll be kicking some elves if they don't get in.

Their voices guided me to vote no

Unfortunately their voices won't help them get in

They'll definitely get in. Amazon.com editors picked Bee Thousand as the greatest indie rock record of all time. Pitchfork and Magnet both tout GbV as being one of the most influential bands of the 90s.

If you look at the new bands that are popular right now: Best Coast, Wavves, Girls, Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene etc- all of these bands cite Guided by Voices as a direct influence.

No question. They'll definitely be in.

Another band that's too cool for the Hall.

There's a petition on Facebook to have GBV put in the R&R Hall of Fame. Tis a shame not many have shown their support.

I am passionate about two things: GBV and Pete Rose. I have a pollard/rose photo as my wallpaper. Pollard has the bat rose has the guitar. Justice will prevail!

IMO, Pete Rose is a cheating POS. You should have better taste in idols.

There is a rule that is posted over every clubhouse entrance. The rule says gambling on baseball is completely forbidden. Pete broke that rule (as a manager!) hundreds of times.

Rush, Yes, The Moody Blues, Kiss and Guided by Voices.

That should be the class of 2011. Never happen though.

Not going to ever happen.

Gold Star (aka the Hall) for Robert Boy.

I'd have to agree with Obama's press secretary who called them The Greatest Rock and Roll Band Of The Modern Era.

Saw them at Bunbury Music festival. Bobby P. in all his glory. They rocked hard for 45 minutes. No chitchat, one song to the next.

Bob Pollard was wearing a yellow bowling shirt with 'Bobby P.' on front & 'Hertz Rent a Drunk' on back. He would swig occasionally from a tequila bottle & then a beer bottle.
