Can't believe this old dude is 1st to post on Grimes (no relation to Frank 'Grimey' Grimes).

Anyway, I saw her in Boom Boom Tent at The Hangout. Had 2 backup dancers & a backup vocalist, who also played some key boards/bass. Grimes generally plays the keyboards herself. Was in middle of a packed crowd of young'uns.

Thought she did a fine job. Fun set, with some real catchy songs. That she is very easy on the eyes doesn't hurt. Thought she had one of best sets of weekend.

Watched Grimes play at Lakeshore Stage (secondary one in large field where main stage is) one sultry Lollapalooza evening. About 6th row on right for this one.

Probably saw 16 dudes fall in love with her. I already love her. She said she had 2 twisted ankles, so not the usual dance routines from her. Her backup dancers filled in admirably.

Reminds me of a more poppy, younger Haley Williams. That's a big complement from me. I basically could watch her all day.

I put her in the ethereal alternative pop group with the likes of FKA Twigs, Lorde, Björk, Lana Del Rey, Florence & The Machine. She gets a few more points though for recording, mixing, and engineering all her music. Her music and lyrical content is very unique but it still retains a sound that is rhythmic and cohesive and blends multiple genres together to create something nothing quite like it. We'll have to see where she goes in the next 15 years but I'd say she's definitely one to watch.

Still enjoyed those sets I commented on, but her getting together with Elon has given me a bit of the 'yick' factor on her.
