They seem a long way from being inducted. But, as the Little Red Book says, even a journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.

I'm not sure where they are on the influence and impact scale, but they did nail down the punk, funk and rock mixture nicely before the Chili Peppers (wouldn't be surprised if they influenced them.) RHCP is probably going to be inducted, so no reason why GOF shouldn't be.

RHCP have said from the very beginning that they wouldn't have even existed without G4.

"RHCP have said from the very beginning that they wouldn't have even existed without G4." Well you can certainly hear what RHCP would become in GOF. I know Andy Gill produced their first album (haven't listened to it.)

At Home He's a Tourist is one of the most addictive songs of all time but Entertainment as a whole is a masterpiece and thankfully is backed up by Solid Gold and Songs for the Free thanks to amazing lyricisms, ballsiness in subject matter and simplistic yet effective musicianship. In addition to Red Hot Chili Peppers (inducted in their third year of eligibility), you can also see how other bands that mix funk and punk in to their sound like Fugazi, Rage Against the Machine and R.E.M. (a day one shoehorning in mind you) so Gang of Four needs to be inducted as soon as possible.
