I wouldn't rule out the induction of Dobie Gray.

He's in with The In Crowd.

I was always under the impression Ramsey Lewis was the only person who was in with the In Crowd?

Did they accept a new member? And if so, in what year did they open up the books?

Word on the street is that all 3 members of the Ramsey Lewis Trio are with "The In Crowd." I didn't realize Dobie Gray was with The In Crowd (maybe he predates it?)

1965 was a big year for The In Crowd. Dobie proudly proclaimed his card carrying membership in this organization at #13. Ramsey was a little more shy about it-eschewing the lyrics but hitting #5.

Thanks for the clarification. Those of us who are not In at all sometimes need this...

Very talented musician, "Drift Away" is a classic. Disappointed to see nobody else has actually discussed Dobie Gray on here yet, just talking about being in an in crowd...

Dobie Gray recorded "The In Crowd" first. Ramsay Lewis covered it.
