4 comments so far (post your own)Most under-rated singer songwriter of Americana Blues and Rock and Roll, country and honky tonk in the USA. He IS the Frank Sinatra of blues and rock and roll. Posted by Carter Butler on Monday, 07/27/2015 @ 15:32pm |
Soo under-rated. Taught John Lennon some harp moves...say no more ;) Posted by Paul on Sunday, 10/8/2017 @ 00:46am |
I've followed Delbert since the 70s. He has contributed to american music and deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!! Posted by Dee Casper on Thursday, 04/22/2021 @ 15:46pm |
It should be a no brainer. Delbert's excellence in so many genres is amazing. I'm originally from NJ and have a close friend, record collector for 60 years and likes everything from 96 Tears to Cajun, bluegrass, pre-hip hop soul, rock and loves country without strings. His favorite "authentic" country band is The Delmore Brothers. We have similar tastes - with me it's a tie between them and The Maddox Brothers and Rose. He once told me that if he had to name a #1 favorite song of all time it would be Sea of Love. He's a huge fan of Delbert and we were talking deep soul about 10 years ago and Otis' Dreams to Remember came up. He asked me if I ever heart Delbert McClinton's version. I hadn't. He said it's as good if not better. When he played it for me, I agreed. This Jersey shore guy, me, now lives in NC's Triangle and belong to quite a few FB music groups. Delbert is idolized in the largest beach music group, Beach Music Cafe. What more can you ask for? Posted by Mark Eastman on Monday, 11/20/2023 @ 14:18pm |
