R.I.P. David Cassidy. You made a lot of people happy in the 70's.

Absolutely no one deserves to be inducted into the Rock Hall more than David Cassidy. The man was not only the first person I ever saw play a guitar, he set the standard for rock music for an entire generation. His voice was the most beautiful, dreamy, breathy satin virbarto ever recorded. His level of musical intelligence is an A+++. There isn’t another voice like him, nor such a multi-talent in history. This is loooooong over due. Get this man in, it’s a travesty he has not been in since 1996.

David Cassidy's body of musical work has gone unrecognized throughout his career. He filled stadiums that most artists today could only dream of. He created an excitement and energy to Rock and Roll that only he could invoke. There has never been another artist quite like him since. Please honor this icon. He wasn't just a teen idol. Look at his resume of work. Thank you.

I can’t understand why David Cassidy has not been inducted yet? His talent goes beyond singing...he could play the guitar, drums, piano and his voice was beautiful. At one time his fan club was bigger than Elvis and The Beatles...he hold records for selling the most tickets at some venues still today! Most of the others inducted do not have those attributes. He truly belongs in the Hall of Fame....how can we get him nominated? Thank you

No one deserves this more than David Cassidy. He gave his life to music, acting and his fans. Surely now is the time to acknowledge him.

A person would have to be blind and dead not to induct David Cassidy into this Hall of Fame. Im not sure why this is up for debate...I saw him on Celebrity Apprentice and even Donald Trump was a fan...My goodness, next to Elvis Presley himself there is none other

There will never be or ever will be an artist like David Cassidy! He was simply an icon of his generation. His music transcended across all genres of music . He was a Rock and Roll Star ! He was always true to himself and his music ! He was simply a musical genius . It beggars belief why he is not already in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. This should have been bestowed on her years ago . He stayed loyal to his fans and his fans stayed loyal to him . He had the most meteroric rise to fame and fan club that exceeded Elvis he was the highest paid solo performer of his time . He was quite simply the best !! Give him in death what you didn’t in life ! He so deserves this accolade . He is the King of Hearts ♥️

David Cassidy began as a teen pop star with millions of fans across the globe , he’d previously been a serious actor. David Cassidy continued through the decades to re invent himself, weighting, making hit records and acting on stage in the us and the U.K. , he sang his way to the top of the world and has been admired and followed by loyal fans from over 40 years. His music is now iconic and will last for generations ahead . David Cassidy IS The Rock Legend and his legacy will live forever.

If the committee will move beyond all of the early works which were pretty incredible and recognize the talent, hard work and dedication David had for his craft and later works, I believe he will be inducted. I wonder if the people who voted "no" on here have even heard his later works?

Posted by JamieC on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 11:42am

David Cassidy out sold both the Beatles and Elvis. He owned the air waves in the early 70's. YES He deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!!!!

Posted by DeDe Davis on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 11:56am

No matter how famous he was, David will never get in due to his lacklusters of power staying, innovation and uniqueness. He also didn’t influence anybody.

Posted by The Dude on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 12:53pm

When it comes to teen idols. There really isn't any other who deserve induction more than David Cassidy... granted, an argument can be made for the Monkees... and Ricky Nelson is already inducted.

It's time Cassidy gets his props from RRHOF.

Posted by Dale Cunningham on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 13:34pm

David never got the credit he deserved when he was alive. It's only right that it should happen to recognise the joy he brought to so many with his music.

Posted by Anne Thornhill on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 13:35pm

Dude

This is the misconception people get when the hall inducts Teenie Bopper artist and bypasses the important artist of an era. People on here are calling for teenie bopper artist on here now. I think you are getting a taste of what I endure.

Posted by Zuzu on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 13:45pm

Does not meet the criteria for consideration of even a nomination to the HOF.
A bit of perspective is needed.
This is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, not
the Hall of Acts I Like....
There is a criteria.

Posted by Mark on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 14:29pm

@ Zuzu

To be fair, some of the acts - mostly from the British Invasion era - who are in the Hall were tagged as “teenie bopper music.” But that’s different cause they actually showed their uniqueness and how innovative, impactful, and influential they were back then unlike David.

Posted by The Dude on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 14:53pm

I was only 5 at the time but I have seen the garage bands rather than Brits regarded as teenie bopper music. I do not consider the Monkees for induction and I do not think such artist as the Michael Jackson, the Jackson 5 and Kiss should have even been inducted or nominated. Likewise I do have some problems with AC that was passed off as sort of a faux folk instead of considering the real deal.

In regards to the Brits the only one I have heard anything about is Hermits Hermits. A local DJ, Clark Webber, said that he thought that they did not have more talent than the garage bands.

Posted by Zuzu on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 15:23pm

David Cassidy dedicated almost 5 decades of his life to music. It's true that he did struggle to overcome his teen idol image and in some arenas fought to be taken seriously as a singer/musician/song writer. Listen to Junked Heart Blues if think he had no talent. He influenced a while generation including George Michael. His voice is beautiful and unique. Just because he was adored by millions of females doesn't mean his talent should be overlooked.

Posted by MT on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 15:41pm

David Cassidy totally inspired a generation. He absolutely epitomised the 70s and his musical style matured with him. His voice was incredibly versatile, he could sing anything from pop to rock to musical theatre and could play guitar, drums and piano at the highest level. He sold out some of the largest concert venues on the planet and was one of the very few artists who had the capability of sounding the same live as he did on his recordings. He gave almost 50 years to the music industry and his legacy will continue to inspire.

Posted by Gillian Priestley on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 15:45pm

David Cassidy deserves the honor of being recognized, by the R & R Hall Of Fame Committee, for being as Jann S. Wenner, stated, a cut above the other, teen idols; because, he had something special. Cassidy's uniqueness went beyond his looks, and the screams, he evoked, at his concerts, during his heyday, making him, the highest paid, male solo artists, after Elvis Presley. There were plenty of good reasons, for the attendance records, that were broken by him. Some of those records, have yet to be broken, today.

As a singer, Cassidy's talent was quite versatile; whose vocal range enabled him to sing, material across musical genres, such as rock, pop, jazz, R&B and soul. He could croon to songs, like "Cherish," and "Junked Heart Blues," (his own composition); yet, belt out tunes, like "C.C.Rider Blues/Jenny, Jenny" heard on Cassidy Live (Bell/1974), which received, Creem Magazine's rating of 4 1/2 stars out of 5.

Cassidy was a multi-talented artist, who could play guitar, drums, piano and write his own material, as well as produce. His rendition of Buffalo Springfield's, "For What It's Worth" also on "Cassidy Live" showcased, his killer guitar skills, that would have made him, a contender with the best of them.

Cassidy's talent, as an artist was acknowledged by those, who worked, with him, on his numerous recordings, such as Kim Carnes, legendary guitarists, Louie Shelton, James Burton, Mick Ronson, Richie Furay of Buffalo Springfield, America (Dewey Bunnel & Gerry Beckley), Brian Wilson & Bruce Johnston of the Beach Boys, etc.

Artists such as Alice Cooper, Elton John & David Bowie were counted among Cassidy's fans, along with Julian Lennon, George Michael, who cited Cassidy as one of his biggest influences, copying Cassidy's breathy singing style, Rick Springfield, who said, he always wanted to be David Cassidy, and country artist, Keith Urban, who studied some of David's moves.

David Cassidy refused to be limited, to a pigeonhole label, by setting the standard, for future so-called, teen idols, to move beyond, label restrictions, and aspire to do work, that is solid, and noteworthy, regardless of record sales and public acceptance. Such undertakings are considered risky, from a business standpoint, but, worthwhile, from a creative vanguard. As a fan, I enjoyed, the benefits of all of David's creative endeavors, having followed him, through, his critically acclaimed performances, on Broadway and EFX in Vegas.

In fact, David's various artistic ventures has made it, acceptable, for recording artists, to do television, film and stage, while maintaining, their credibility, within their musical sphere. For David, such efforts has paid off. He has been able to maintain an audience, for decades, that cuts across the spectrum, of age, race, culture and gender. Not many artists can make such claims. With that said, and more, David Bruce Cassidy should be inducted into the R & R Hall of Fame. Blow the doors off, and let him in!

Once again.
Does not come close to criteria.
There is a backlog of major and important acts awaiting nomination.

Posted by Mark on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 16:51pm

So, Mark, there is a backlog of major and important acts, awaiting nomination? If the information posted, by Rock Hall News, including, what has been shared, by former Nominating Committee Member of the Hall, Roy Trakin, is accurate, it's a wonder, that anyone gets considered. Not to mention, of course, the fact, that criteria for eligibility is vague. However, there have been committee members, who voted, according to the body of work, created by the artist, apart from influence, and impact on the evolution and development of rock n' roll.

Posted by Denise S. Jervis on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 19:14pm

Many people overlook the fact that David Cassidy, while he was wildly popular, was an accomplished musician and songwriter. Over the years he explored many genres and his very last ep was very high up on the jazz charts. Many of his noted contemporaries did not pass him off as a teeny bopper, including John Lennon, Glen Campbell and The Beach Boys. He deserves a place in the Hall.

Posted by Toni on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 20:37pm

Toni,

I understand that you like his music but he really does not have the cred to get a nom or get the votes. You bring up Glen Campbell but did he work with David Cassidy like he did with Jerry Reed who was inventive and influential.

I was 12 when the Partridge Family came out and no he was not one of the biggest artist of the 70s if anything he was just a blip on the screen and yes his music was teenie bopper music.

Posted by Zuzu on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 20:59pm

David Cassidy is one of the most talented musicians of all times. He had that special quality to his voice. He performed all over the work for many years , in many venues! People of all ages loved him . He deserves to be recognized for his musical accomplishments!

Ha! Now that Journey is in, the Perry faithful have become the Cassidy Cuckoos to flood this board. Hysterical.

Posted by Philip on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 21:30pm

Zulu, I don’t think you've studied David’s career at all. He was universes away from a blip on the tv screen. The man broke records at Madison Square Garden, the Houston Asteodoome and Wembley in London to name a few and had the biggest fan club in history. The Partridge Family were mislabeled, they were folky, soft rock and hold up today. Future musicians cited David as the first person they ever saw and heard play a guitar, which he did so well. His solo albums were stellar. He permeated the fabric of society, globally. He changed the industry and got a generation to love music, specially rock and roll.

Posted by Annette on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 21:44pm

So women are hysterical cuckoos.

How sexist can you get?

Posted by Zuzu on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 22:46pm

Annette,

I do not need to study what I saw. Teenie bopper artist could be a big draw. Just look at Kiss and Michael Jackson.

Judy Collins, Melanie, Steve Goodman and John Prine are examples of 70 folk. David Cassidy was by no stretch of the imagination folk. I know folk. I had tons of exposure to several variations of folk as a child.

Posted by Zuzu on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 22:52pm

I adored his songs on The Partridge Family, and they still hold up 45 years later. And his body of solo work is fantastic (I've only recently discovered it, and I'm amazed). It's a tragedy that the entertainment industry would not let him escape from his teen idol image, yet he persevered and continued making excellent music throughout his life. He also won a Tony nomination for his dramatic role in Blood Brothers on Broadway, and was a superstar in Vegas in the 90s. But he will always be remembered and celebrated for his concerts in the 70s, selling out stadiums throughout the world.

Posted by Beth on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 23:03pm

Zuzu, take a listen to his solo works like Ricky’s Tune, I am A Clown or Then I’ll be Someone and you’ll see your teen inner theory is incorrect. As far as the PF, take a listen to Point Me i. He Direction of Albuquerque or Rainmaker you are flat out wrong about David Cassidy. He is the Tesla of the music industry. To quote Quentin Tarrinttino- “the most underrated vocallst in the history of rock and roll. .

Posted by Annette on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 23:12pm

David Cassidy well and truly deserves this honour; he was very underrated in the music industry and he had true talent check out the utube channels and watch he wasn't just a overnight success and a one off; he was bigger than the Elvis and Beatles fan clubs at the height of his time in the 70's and he was still going in the 80's, 90's and up till he passed
Not many of todays' artist can claim that!

Posted by Wendy on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 23:14pm

Annette,

He is not the biggest thing in the 70s. And teenie boppers are preteens - not teens.

He wasn't a bad vocalist and neither was his step mom but just in the 70s you have Peter Cetera and Steve Perry.

He was just a blip on the radar.

Posted by Zuzu on Wednesday, 08/1/2018 @ 23:34pm

Yes he should be!

Posted by Lisa brawn on Thursday, 08/2/2018 @ 01:25am

Zuzu, it isn't just women who are posting in favor of David Cassidy here. It's predominantly women, but not only women. And you're missing the point. This is swarm posting. A swarm of superfans are posting for the sole purpose of being a swarm on the forum. They seem to think the posts on this forum actually have an effect on what the Nominating Committee does in their meeting, and that showing their love for David Cassidy hard and strong enough will will him into the Hall. As you've already noticed, it's a raging superfandom to the point of detachment from reality regarding what the Hall is about. THAT'S what makes them "cuckoo," not their gender.

In other words, I'm on your side on this one, whether you like it or not.

Also, you're wasting your time. I've witnessed this kind of swarm posting a few times before here on FRL, for Steve Perry, *NSYNC, Falco, and Coven. In fact, with Coven it got so bad, the administrator had to hide posts on that thread because it had taken over the forum. I recommend you don't engage them. Accuracy and historical context mean nothing. They like this artist, and that's all that matters. They will list every song as a crown jewel regardless of how history, historians, and critics have evaluated those songs, or the albums they came from. It's purely emotional; you cannot reason with them. Left unprovoked, they usually go away within a day to a week.

david cassidy is the most talented performer that ever walked the earth!

Posted by debby on Thursday, 08/2/2018 @ 03:40am

David Cassidy was far more than a teen idol. The fact that he was as big as the Beatles and Elvis cannot ever be disputed. However he was not allowed to grow within the confines the moneymakers had built for him. He was respected as a talented singer, songwriter, musician and actor by thousands of his respected peers. There are not many popular music artists who can knock em dead in the aisle night after night on Broadway, The West End and Vegas but he sure did. He was so versatile. He was a wonderful humanitarian who raised thousands of dollars throughout his career for many charities. But one of the greatest things of all he loved and cherished his loyal legion of fans... now well into their middle age... if we can still see the talent and the good that was so prominent in this gifted human being why can’t the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Straight from the heart.... Annie GRENNELL 🇦🇺

Posted by Annie on Thursday, 08/2/2018 @ 04:36am

Philip, I respectfully disagree with you. This is not about emotions. These posts come from people who have studied Cassidy’s career as it impacted the industry. You and Zuzu obviously have not, or not in depth. It is a long career with many collaborations on an international level. There are some like yourself that never saw him past Keith Partridge but that is only a small fragment of his career and legacy.

Posted by Annette on Thursday, 08/2/2018 @ 12:51pm

I agree, Annie, that David was far more than a teen idol. He helped write a song with John Wetton called Prayin' 4 a Miracle which was on an album by the group Asia.

David Cassidy was prog!

Posted by joker on Thursday, 08/2/2018 @ 12:54pm

To the Dude, et al.

Cassidy fans posting their comments, on The Future Rock Legends message board, are fully aware, it is not affiliated with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. We are cognizant, of the fact, that favorable comments made about David Cassidy on this board, have no bearing, on the Hall's decision to induct him or any artists, into the Hall. With that said, fans are merely exercising their civil and constitutional right to free speech, and self expression. So, Dude, hope that helps...

Posted by Denise S. Jervis on Thursday, 08/2/2018 @ 13:49pm

Annette

1 - Never Never put me in the same group as Phillip

2 - It does not require extensive research to get the jist of how important an artist is and what their chances are of getting enough votes to be inducted. All one has to do is look at all music and Second Hand Songs to see the range and depth of an artist.

There simply is not enough meat on the bone there for David Cassidy. To further show what I mean by lacking compare him to another teen idol, Paul Anka, who actually does have the level of influence to be a good consideration for induction. The man has helped several artist get a start as a mentor. He is in both the American and Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. He has written at least 800 or 900 songs and has had several artist across the decades cover his work.

David Cassidy only has a handful of names to his list.

Posted by Roy on Thursday, 08/2/2018 @ 15:29pm

Zuzu, apologies on Philip. I don’t know now either of you but make no ill towards him or you. As far as collaborators and those he influences there are many, many more than a few and others that David turned down who wanted to work with including David Bowie. His catalog is over 12 hours Long. He inspired an entire generation to love the rock and roll genre, including myself. It is much more deep than you think. Your view of David is part of the issue. Some people, particularly in the US, will never let go that he was Keith. In Europe he was the Rockstar of the era.

Posted by Annette on Thursday, 08/2/2018 @ 15:35pm

Annette

I think you are over exaggerating the extent of his influence. I have given you several examples of artist that excelled.

over came teenie bopper image - Paul Anka

Vocal influence - Peter Cetera & Steve Perry

All Music also show credits for playing or singing on another artist.

An artist getting a kick out of seeing a childhood idol or working with them is not necessarily a true influence but can be a sentimental emotion for something from a time gone by. This is why I have a problem with the Jackson 5, Kiss, Michael Jackson and requests for the Monkees.

Posted by Zuzu on Thursday, 08/2/2018 @ 16:24pm

Denise, the FRL admin is not Congress. Technically, the 1st Amendment is not applicable on this forum.

Annette, not to be snotty, but you realize the title "rockstar of Europe" has also been used to describe David Hasselhoff, right?

Posted by Philip on Thursday, 08/2/2018 @ 18:27pm

Also, if you believe his popularity in Europe more than compensates for his limited acclaim in the U.S., then I would say he needs to get in line behind Kraftwerk, Status Quo, and Cliff Richard And The Shadows.

Posted by Philip on Thursday, 08/2/2018 @ 18:47pm

No Philip, I’ve never heard that before. But let’s not forget the great bands that have come from Europe and there is no comparing these two David’s. Zuzu, your persistence to not drop the idol pigeon hole is more proof of my case and that it is still a problem. And in terms of vocalists, David is in a league of his own. I don’t need to have the last word. I know a lifetime of a belief is hard to break in one thread. But mark my words. In 100 years the world will know his genius. It always takes the world a while to catch up.

Posted by Annette on Thursday, 08/2/2018 @ 18:54pm

David was much more talented than the general public knows... he played lots of instruments, wrote songs, was a fabulous performer and his music is still being purchased and listened to, almost 50 yrs after he begun. He is more than deserving to be inducted. He's ingrained into millions of hearts and minds around the world, present day.

Posted by Wendy Turner on Thursday, 08/2/2018 @ 19:09pm

Annette

I gave you an example of somebody that started as a teen idol and gained recognition.

Paul Anka has something to back up why he he should be inducted. He has some fairly big names that have covered his work. He has also paid it forward by mentoring up an coming artist.

Take a look at Steve Goodman - I have listed about 100 artist that have covered him, worked with him or have considered him an influence. I put down some back-up of more than just a couple of names to say that he is somebody that should be considered because he has made a mark.

Take a look at Jerry Reed and I am just starting on what shows he is worth of consideration for the Hall. He came up with a style of guitar playing that nobody had even conceived of before. Add on to that his song writing. Even the King recognized him.

If you want to show me that he is worthy of induction you have to show more than just a few names. You have to show that he did something significant. Just saying he was big or in a class of his own does not prove anything. That is your opinion and if you want to convince somebody you have to show some facts.

Another name:

Gary Loizzo of the American Breed

He went on to work on the record production end of the business. He has worked with Styx, REO Speedwagon, and Bad Company among several other artists.

Posted by Zuzu on Thursday, 08/2/2018 @ 19:38pm

What's wrong with emotion? Isn't that what music is all about? Seriously? Have some of you even ever listened to anything David Cassidy did past 1970? I don't even get emotional about any of that PF stuff because I know it wasn't written by DC and it just sounds different. But some of the later music is exquisite. Why not just take a chance and listen to it?

Posted by JamieC on Thursday, 08/2/2018 @ 21:04pm

Exactly JamieC. Music and emotion are synonymous. And there has not been an artist since who has evoked the passion and emotion from his fans like he did. He sang all styles of music, including Rock and Roll and it wasn’t the songs he sang it was his delivery. That razor-sharp, pristine, silky vibrato sung from the depths of his soul. Every song, sung like it was his last. No one, not a single no one has ever sang like he did. No one sounds remotely like him. He sang from somewhere else and with precision. There are many names of collaborators in this thread but that is not the only criteria. Moving people is as well. And he moved millions and still does.

Posted by Annette on Thursday, 08/2/2018 @ 22:01pm

What EXACTLY is the criteria that some people are talking about that David Cassidy supposedly lacks? Even if David "moved" more women than men, I allude to the song sang by many "WOMAN IS SMARTER"! and So what anyway. He played piano acoustic and electric guitar and drums. He certainly did have a style of singing like no other. One of my personal favorites was the one he wrote Lying to Myself, with Sue Shifrin. He had a passion for singing and music. I doubt that the people who want David Cassidy to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will go away any time soon.

Posted by Cindy on Thursday, 08/2/2018 @ 22:52pm

David spent his life making music for his fans. He gave all he had right to the end. David should have been inducted I to the hall of fame years ago.

Posted by Yvonne de Boet on Monday, 08/6/2018 @ 18:34pm

After David stopped the Teen-idol train and was no longer the puppet of Clive Davis, Clive Davis stifled his career...continuously and for years. This is why with all that talent, looks and faithful fan base he could never get back on top.
David Cassidy was profoundly talented and deserves great acclaim. He was out of his depth and with no good contractual protection against sharks like this...and ultimately it destroyed the beautiful, talented David Cassidy from the inside out.

Posted by Julie on Saturday, 12/22/2018 @ 14:00pm

David Cassidy deserves to be inducted. He has a beautiful voice, could sing all kinds of music, rock and roll, blues pop etc. He was a talented musician, writer and performer. He may have started as a Teeny bopper idol but his fans have stood the test of time and stayed loyal though all his changes in direction. He was truly a star and deserves to be recognised as such

Multi talented musician. Outstanding and versatile - equally sublime doing blues as well as rock and' bubble gum' (which actually required considerable skill). Beautiful
Voice. Great vocal range. Great natural pitch. Good instrumentalist. Led the way in the '70s in terms of superstardom. Also talented actor, producer, director and song writer.

On my last visit to the Hall, I did see the small tribute to David in the TV exhibit. He deserves to be inducted. His popularity soared, and his path led the way for other artists to follow. Singer, profound songwriter, and actor. His legacy remains today and needs to be recognized.

He worked at his craft all of his life, singing until his last breath. He was multi talented with a voice like no other. He was an accomplished musician - played many instruments, guitar playing like jimi Hendrix, magical on the drums, superb pianist and the list goes on. He was a brilliant actor especially in Blood Brothers and EFX which he also produced. He was gifted in many ways and outlived the teen idol image of the 70's and goes beyond his incredible looks. He was a beautiful soul who was haunted by childhood trauma caused by the abandonment by his father. His fans are still his fans. For the man and the music. His work ethic was incredible. His legacy lives on through remembering him with love and light. He was loved and still is. Unforgettable. RIP David

David Cassidy has been overlooked for far too long. He was one of the most hard working artists that has ever been, and deserves every bit of recognition to be inducted into the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" . Whoever picks the nominees should recognise how talented this man was, singer, songwriter, producer, stage musical, acting etc. He brought so much to the music industry. He had more fans than Elvis and the Beatles. He was such a phenomenal person, turn his hand to so many things, that he set the world alight with his presence around the world. If that`s not enough to induct him, I don`t know what is. Here`s hoping over there in the " Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" someone gets to see the comments on this website and just maybe he could be nominated for 2021. RIP David , we`re still fighting for you .

That voice. His stage presence - longevity of career spanning 50 years - his charismatic performances in Las Vegas and in the the west end - he is remembered by so many of us with absolute love(which is why we all stayed so loyal to the end)- his fame has endured- he so deserves to be recognised. I feel cheated on his behalf that he is yet to be "allowed" in. Do the right thing ❤️❤️❤️

To not consider David Cassidy in RRHOF is a crime. He had an amazing voice, with his own unique style of singing, played piano, guitar, banjo and harmonica, wrote songs, acted, produced and was adored by many such as Elvis and the Beatles. He may not have had the "edge" of other inductees, but he certainly knew how to do it all!

It is without doubt a travesty that the biggest musical icon of the Late 20th century Wasn't inducted into the Hall of Fame during his lifetime. But certainly since his untimely death it is a duty of those responsible to rectify this
Situation. He deserves rightly to be part of it .

You cant think of the 70s without Davids music being there, his world tours were sold out...MSG sold out...sold out...sold out. More fans than Elvis and the Beatles. He could play several different instruments and his fans adored him for decades and still do.

David was awesome at every kind of music out there. He created hit records that were superb even though he was exhausted. His music still makes people happy to this very day. Induct him already!!!!!!!

Nobody deserves this better than David Cassidy. His talent has been vastly underrated by the powers that be and he has proven time and time again that his talent went way beyond Partridge Family. His popularity remained constant throughout his career and considering his career covered over four decades that speaks for itself. The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame should do the right thing and honour this irreplaceable icon.

What has the hold up been? This man dedicated his life to his fans and worked like a dog to earn that respect...he undoubtedly deserves this more than some of ur previous inductees...its just a shame that he is looked as a teeny bopper heartthrob when he has done so much beautiful music since those years and when he put on a show...boy he did it fabulous...most talented man that truly deserves his recognition...would have been nice while he was alive but it is a must now!!!!

David was underrated. He could play the guitar, piano, drums, Banjo, Harmonica, & eve when he was little he started to learn how to play the clarinet. He can sing. write music. And he wrote several songs that was big for hit for Cher & the Group Asia. He did plays & musicals and wrote some of the songs for the musical he was in. Was an actor on TV & movies. He could play & sing rock, pop, jazz, easy listening, country, you name it the could probably play it. At one time he had more fans than Elvis & the Beatles. His first hit song "I think I love you" throw the Beatles off the #1 chart & became the most popular song in 1970. He was popular for 5 decades. David needs to be recognized and added to the Hall of Fame.

David Cassidy was my first crush. Truth be told, it wasn't until he was seriously ill and I dilegently hunted every photo, interview, story, project, book, video that I could find that I came to understand JUST how amazing he was. Far and away more talented than I realized, on every level. Had he gotten the support in the business that he should have, he'd have been inducted long ago. Let's make this right this year. It's SO overdue.

Posted by Helen Morano on Wednesday, 04/28/2021 @ 19:30pm

What more does the The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame want , David Cassidy should have been inducted long ago, come on do the right thing this year. David Cassidy could not only sing, he could play guitar, piano, drums, Banjo, Harmonica, ansd could sing and play almost any type of music. David was far more than the teen idol image people think of as you don't have a career that cover almost 50 years without having the tlalent that goes with it.

Posted by Doreen Walker on Wednesday, 04/28/2021 @ 21:19pm

David Cassidy was and continues to be very underrated both as an actor and musician but especially as a musician in my and many others opinions. He was typecasted as a bubblegum pop singer but he was so much more than that. He was a rocker and had some incredible and overlooked songs. His concerts rocked and thrilled millions upon millions. I think it's time we stop underrating David and give him the credit and stature he so richly deserves. Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame time for the one and only DC!

People don't realize the famous people who have cited the partridge family/ David cassidy as an influence. For an entire generation, their introduction to rock and roll were them/ him. And you may argue "tpf/dc were not rock and roll". And id agree. But neither is James brown. Neither is Johnny cash. But they influenced artist who were, and David did they same thing. If people could get over their prejudice of him being a "teen idol" and evaluate him on his talent and influence, he would most definitely be in.

David Cassidy should have been added many years ago. He was an icon of his time and his music will live on forever. Having seen David Cassidy live I must say he absolutely rocked in concert. When David passed away our music world lost a gem...and his fans lost so much more.

David should be in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. The biggest superstar of the 70's he broke attendance records some have never been broken to this day the Wembley weekend being one, 6 shows over 3 days all completely sold out, he was so much more than he was given credit for. He was multi-talented and his voice range was incredible he even studied opera techniques as his grandmother had been an opera singer and was an accomplished musician on many instruments. His performances in Blood Brothers and EFX in Vegas earned him many awards. I had the pleasure of seeing him live many times and he was a fabulous showman. He influenced many people to become musicians and actors as well as a generation who still love him and is still being discovered for his talent today and needs to be inducted.

Have read lots of comments saying that David Cassidy doesn't deserve to be here. Which just go to prove how underestimated he was as a musician and singer.
People have already said how accomplished a guitarist he was, so I don't need to go on about that. The thing that lots of people don't acknowledge is what amazing vocal range he had. Go to YouTube and listen to David perform a Paul McCartney song "Tomorrow". Even Paul said that it was the best version of the song ever, even better than his own.
Sadly, David isn't here now, and I am not sure that he was too bothered about awards etc anyway. His last recordings, made when he was dying where nothing short of amazing.
Get the man inducted!

David Cassidy has never had enough recognition in the USA for his solo work after the Partridge Family, because the show was so popular that people always referred to it. That is an injustice for DC, cause his solowork, the rock albums, have so much more content, his own songwriting, cooperation with other artists, these albums are recognised in the rest of the world exept in the USA. This can be changed. Should be changed. Find his legacy on davidcassidy.com and find out how talented and versatile he really was. Various artists called him the most underrated singer, which was the truth.

Just shocking that it is taking so much time and work to get him on this list. He was so talented, could sing any type of music with his beautiful voice, a nice, good person, set records with his appearances - why this problem? Does everyone listed have to go thru all of this?

David Cassidy deserves a place and I don't know why he hasn't been when he was alive. He was a teen idol in the 70's and caused hysteria the world over which became Cassidymania and had a bigger fan club than elvis at one point. The media said that they hadn't seen hysteria like this since 10yrs ago but they forget there were 4 of them whereas David Cassidy did it all on his own. He was an actor, musician and wrote lyrics for many of his albums. These are to name a few of different things that he was part of and what he achieve. He was so underrated and never had the recognition that he so deserve. He was a gorgeous man that kept his looks all his life along with his personality where he would always help anyone He was immaculately dressed. Everything he did had to just right until he was happy. He knew how much his fans loved him and that he had touched so many lives which meant a lot to him but was very humble about it. Before he passed all he asked for was to keep his legacy of light and love going which is all his fans are doing on social media nearly 4 years on to show we love and miss him loads. So please give him the accolade of being inducted into the RORHOF

This is a travesty---David should be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!! David set the standard for rock music for an entire generation. He had a breathy vibrato voice that was so beautiful and sexy there wasn't anyone else on the radio that sounded like him. He was always underappreciated--Heck he had a fan base that was larger than the Beatles or Elvis COMBINED--that says something!! Just one year after "I think I love You" hit the radio waves---he sold out Madison Square Garden---no other artist was able to do that back then or I doubt even today!! He sold out Wembley Stadium six times in one weekend, something even the Beatles didn't do. He changed a generation with his unbelievable multi-talented-idol-rock persona. None of the other idols then or now had/have as much talent as David did. He could sing, play any instrument, act, write songs, won best entertainer of the year more than once in Vegas, toured for five successful years on Broadway, wrote and produced tv shows, Vegas shows, and toured the world many times over. He was very dedicated to whatever he did and treated his fans with so much love and affection. How this guy hasn't been inducted before now is beyond understanding. Those of us that lived through the 70s would like to see David be inducted before our generation is all gone.

Yes he should be in the RRHOF!! The man had props!! He entertained the world for 50 years. His talent was so versatile. He could not only sing but he was a brilliant actor, producer, writer, set designer, composer, and business man. He helped and inspired and had the respect of many in the business. Donny Osmond was my teen idol but I can even admit David had more talent than any of the other idols. I never saw David as a teen idol. I always thought his looks and voice were too dangerous and his songs were too sophisticated for my Virgin ears—I remember when he sang "Rock Me Baby" on the Bob Hope Special—I was shocked, he moved and sang like Mick Jagger. Then later on when he wrote and sang "Lying to Myself" which I thought was one of best songs of the 90s and "The Last Kiss" To me he was always a rock n roll musician. He will never be forgotten and do not underestimate his fan base he still has a huge following around the world they won't stop until he is in the RRHOF—rock on David Cassidy!!

Absolutely!!! He is hands down one of the most respected musicians in the biz. We need to get some of RRHOF members that worked with David that knew how talented he was and saw him not as a teen idol but one of them to get him in like Paul Anka did for Bobby Darin. David has a lot of RRHOF members that has respect for his talent, like Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, Don Henley, etc. I think Paul would be his biggest promoter since he famously said David sang his song "Tomorrow" better than he ever could and acknowledged David's vocals by saying he had the goods!! I think that shot out from Paul earned David even more respect in the music industry. Paul McCartney if your AI trolls land on this post I hope you are able to see it and take action for David!

would like to ask you with every other David Cassidy Fan to see David Cassidy given the recognition for his musical talent and the acknowledgment of his body of work that he has produced over the decades to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
David Cassidy who appeared to sold out Stadiums around the world, Wembley, Royal Albert Hall, White city Stadium, Madison Square Gardens , Melbourne Cricket Ground, Houston Astrodome, MGM Grand Las Vegas, and many more over the world.
He was and is an icon and legend of the music and entertainment industry.
He had a larger fan club than Elvis and the Beatles, and was the first highest paid solo artist of his time. He also was the first star ever to be merchandised in all manner of merchandise.
His image adorned the walls of his fans, and still does.
He was the King of Teen idols, the cream da la creme.
His could sing, play guitar, drums, and piano aswell as a being superb stage and TV actor.
He produced some of the best musical LP's and music the decades and his era. He played with the best. He created with the best wrote and produced songs with the best. He also jammed with the best.
He could sing a myriad of styles and capture his audiences with baited breath. His presence for his fans all over the world created "Cassidymania"
I don't know of any other artist forced to fly in and land at Heathrow airport and give a performance on the tarmac of the airport and then fly out again. The BBC wouldn't allow him to perform on their show " Top of the Pops" for fear of throngs of girls causing destruction to limos and property, due to the sheer volume of screaming adoring fans.
He was denied a stay at the Dorchester Hotel in London and had to stay on the yacht Ocean Sabre on the River Thames . (Incidentally the yacht was for Elizabeth Taylor's Dogs )as they feared the damage these fans could do in their attempts to reach David.
David could go no where without mass hysteria from fans.
His music and presence inspired so many artists that would come after David . They were in awe and respect of him
He had the ability to make his cover versions sound better than the artists originals .
His voice was in a catergory of its own as was his music.
He truly is worthy and deserves this accolade and recognition.
No musical hall of fame would be complete without Davids name adorning their halls. His music is still as hugely popular as it ever was by his fans, friends and colleagues.
A performance of David Cassidy Live and his music you will never forget and it will never leave you.
I enclose links to different videos of
David's Live Concert performances from different decades for you to view in your consideration
He has being overlooked for far too long and deserves his place of recognition posthumously.

David B Cassidy ⭐️ very much deserves to be in the R&R Hall of Fame..I just cannot believe that he has not been recognised already..
Talented Singer, musician, songwriter and amazing concert and recording artist with so many loyal fans still to this day.
David Cassidy..(Not to be confused with the teen idol of the 70's) let's see him now given his rightful place, it is long overdue!!

David Cassidy's solo career eclipsed the phenomenal success of The Partridge Family. In the early 70s David had sellout concert successes in major arenas around the world . "Cassidymania". David played to two sellout crowds of 56,000 each at the Houston Astrodome in Texas over one weekend in 1972.
His concert in New York's Madison Square Garden sold out in one day and resulted in riots after the show. His concert tours of the United Kingdom included sellout concerts at Wembley Stadium in 1973. In Australia in 1974, the mass hysteria was such that calls were made to have him deported from the country, especially after the madness at his 33,000-person audience concert at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
And to think this was only the beginning of David's remarkable career
David acted on stage , Acted and wrote for TV . He wrote music for other stars
He relaunched his career in the 80s with an outstanding performance at the Royal Albert Hall in the Uk
His career in the 90s involved multi performances in Las Vegas and the revamping of a major show ..EFX was an outstanding show and performances froM David in this and other Las Vegas shows were an example of how multi talented David Cassidy truly was !
David Cassidy rightly deserves to be on the rock and roll hall of fame and his fans will never give up proving to the world what an amazing star David Cassidy truly was !! Vote for David Cassidy!!

Dolly Parton is in yet David Cassidy, Tom Jones, Three Dog Night, Steppenwolf, The Guess Who and Many Others are still not Inducted. Rock Artists that have even written and composed their own songs are continued being snubbed from the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

David Cassidy has too long been underrated in his enduring talent that spanned decades. Yes, he should enter the RHOF, absolutely. With ability to sell out huge venues like Wembley, Dodger Stadium and Madison Square Garden, to this day his music stands up to the test of time. I encourage listening to his rendition of Don't Let Me Down Tomorrow, remastered, which Paul McCartney praised. Respected by key artists of the time, Alice Cooper, Bowie, George Michael, John Lennon; they respected his artistic talents. Yes, admit him to RHOF already! Long overdue.

David Cassidy was very important in the 70's. He was/is a very good singer, writer and actor. and has been undervalued all his life. He made great songs, especially blues. He really belongs there among all the artists, finally the fame he deserves. I was a great fan of his.

David Cassidy had amazing talent, he had an amazingly large fan base and sold millions of records in the 70 s. It became Cassidymania, causing chaos wherever he went with the fans. He did TV acting and theatre, musicals, Las Vegas shows, for a long period of time, also did Rock and Roll, and the Blues. His fans still keep his legacy alive, and he so deserves to be in the Rock n roll hall of fame. He was a songwriter and great performer. He was very underrated and many stars like Alice Cooper, Paul Mcartney, John Lennon to name a few had high respect for his talents and his showmanship..
Please give him the recommendation he deserves. Thank you.

Lif the Partridge Family is going to be part of the RRHOF, somehow, I think inducting David Cassidy, specifically, would be the best way to handle it. If one of the goals is to honor music that was popular with young people - The Monkees, David Cassidy, and the Bay City Rollers should all be inducted eventually.

Unfortunately the people in charge of inducting artists into the RRHOF are not good people. They enjoy playing god. They are some of the biggest haters on the planet. Not to mention ignorant.
