A fact not widely known is Dan wrote and sang quite a few of the songs for 3 albums by the Edgar Winter Group. Most notably, he wrote and sang the hit, "Free Ride", on the excellent "They Only Come Out at Night" album, playing with rock legends, Edgar W., Ronnie Montrose, and Rick Derringer, on that record. Unfortunately, Dan passed away at age 43, but had a fairly great songwriting and music career.
