20% of 25 people means that - as of the moment I'm writing this - five people have voted "Yes" for Chumbawumba. I know that sounds weird at first, but: Wikipedia says that there have been nine members of Chumbawumba over the years, so the truth is that nearly half the band needs to hurry up and get Internet access.

These guys don't have a chance.

Small correction: It's Chumbawamba. Only one 'u' in the name.

A very good band (even their "one-hit wonder" album had some great stuff that the public overlooked), but I can't think of much offhand that they've innovated.

No chance of induction, but you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't at least attempt to track down a copy of "Pictures of Starving Children Sell Records."

Don't be biased. They have lots of pure hardcore album. Just because they had one hit, does not make them a bad band!

And RATM cites them as a major influence, you know.

Maybe. That one hit was awesome. I'll do some research.

They get points from me for having such an unconventional name that goes together well with their best known, unusually-named song. I remember the first time I heard them on the radio, "That was Tubthumping by Chumbawamba"

It was only later that I found out what was meant by "tubthumping"

Has anyone ever heard the atrocious song How to Get your Band on Television? It's one of the most arrogant, self-aggrandizing songs ever written. These insignificant pissants must have thought they were being "cool" and "rebellious" by lambasting Freddie Mercury, Paul McCartney*, Mick Jagger, and David Bowie, all of whom contributed far more to the field of music and the world than this nonentity of a band. It's funny how in the lyrics Freddie Mercury is said to have been born white, despite the fact that he was actually born in Zanzibar and had Indian heritage. But hey, why let the facts get in the way of crafting a snide, schoolyard taunt?

Just the fact that Chumbawamba (I really need to invent a derogatory nickname for these losers) is cited by Rage against the Septic Tank as an influence is more than enough to keep them out. I can guarantee you in another 50 years that no one will remember these punks. Meanwhile, the music of The Beatles, David Bowie, Queen, and The Rolling Stones will continue to be enjoyed and honored.

*While I'm no fan of The Beatles or any of their members (except Ringo Starr), this is one case where I'll come to their defense.

LOL, don't worry Zach, Chumbawamba's odds of getting into the Hall of Fame are probably lower than subzero.

funny how these guys blasted live aid for being exploitative and condemning it, I bet live aid did a lot more good than these twats ever will.

I still haven't really checked out their music, but I give them props for the John Prescott incident.
