Isn't he more country than rock? The only connection I can think of him having with rock is that his song "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" was covered by Primus. Am I missing something?

Charlie has a slight chance, being one of those country singers who has some respect and admiration in the rock community. Similar to Willie and Patsy.

And you can't tell me "Uneasy Rider" isn't a great song. I still smile listening to that song.

On the basis of ONE song (which is what his induction would be)??? I don't think so, Tim . . . let his keep fiddling for right wingers while the country burns . . .

CDB is awesome. Anybody who thinks they're one-hit wonders has their head in the sand.

And the douchebag who thinks he's just music for right-wingers is even worse. Heaven forbid someone actually be PROUD of America! (Funny he talks about Charlie fiddling while the country burns - yet the right doesn't have any power right now)

Having said that, he's a great COUNTRY artist. His contribution to rock is what, exactly?

He's done work as a session musician, so he could fit the bill as a Sideman but an induction as a Performer is pretty unlikely I would think.

I actually can't stand people who hate certain artists just because of the artists political/religious views. It's like people who whine about Ted Nugent, get a life. If you don't like Charlie Daniels or Ted Nugent's music, that's one thing. But political views? Give me a break.

It doesn't matter what side of the political spectrum you're on, we're discussing music here.

I'd sya that political belief only figures in when it's particularly abhorrent.

Charlie is straight up the heart and soul of southern rock! Charlie established the vol concert and tours regularly to support our troops that are away from their families. Families are the biggest thing in Charlie heart & he lends his name to raise funds often. You only see this now from other that only come out when publicly is offered.
