they have influenced multiple genres ranging from metal to alternative. And lets not forget that Kurt Cobain once said that Nirvana was a mix of Sonic Youth and Celtic Frost.

Instrumentally, these guys showed what would Black Sabbath sound like if they add a bit of a thrashy nature with a morbid attitude. Forming a good, friendly relationship with a Swiss Painting legend the late H.R. Ginger (Who also worked with Dead Kennedys, ELP and Korn) for the band's first album To Mega Therion. The artwork on the album case lyrically represented the vision of head songwriter Tom G. Warrior. While Therion was coming in, Celtic Frost put out two EP's: Morbid Tales and Emperor's Return.

Unlike their first album, the EP's featured cryptic lyrics and grunty "Ooooohs" from Tom. The band released their final album in 2006 with Monotheist; it was a masterpiece and arguably their best and deepest effort to some of their fans.

Celtic Frost have influenced a lot of metal - and even some non-metal - acts. Anthrax, Obituary, Death, Benediction, Brutal Truth, Neurosis, Eyehategod, Cradle of Filth, Marduk, Dimmu Borgir, Goatwhore, Sepultura, Cancer, Asphyx, Pro-Pain, MC Hammer, Gorgoroth, Gallhammer, Paradise Lost, Evoken, Napalm Death, Hatebreed, Slipknot, Creed, Altar Bridge, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Emperor, Mayahem, Pantera, Enslaved, Opeth, Grave, Apollyon Sun, Child Bite, Acid Witch, Municipal Waste, and many others have cited them as one of their influences.
