This is a good British progressive rock band. If you liked Genesis or Supertramp in the mid-seventies give this a try.

The guitarist has some Santana-like qualities in his playing, but without the latin flavor. Some of their stuff can be a little spacey.

Snow Goose is a beautiful recording they did. One of the better orchestra rock albums out there.

Ed...yep, Andy Latimer is a very good guitarist, plus he plays keyboards and some wind instruments...a very good all-around musician. I've heard he's had some health issues lately, which I'm sure we all wish him well on recovery.

Wow, some Camel fans out there. Pretty strange blogging on the RHOF site which Camel has no chance in hell of ever getting into.

I used to love to play Camel for all my friends because no one had ever heard of them and when they'd hear the songs they'd be so impressed.

I was a huge Genesis lover pre-Phil Collins era and would play Camel for my friends that liked Genesis. Looking backwards its obvious to me now that the music was different but I always liked Latimer's solo's and the mood of "Snow Goose".

I hope he is feeling better. Never got to see them in concert. I got the feeling they were never well promoted in the US by their record company. They were as talented as Supertramp, another band that I saw as having similar abilities to as Camel, yet Supertramp made it very big while Camel flew under the radar.
