The great mellow soul and ballad singer! He also wrote several of his hits and teamed with Dinah Washington for 2 great duets. Definitely belong in!

What a voice! In light of some of the inductees, it's hard to understand why Benton is out.

Anyone who's listened to music as long as some of us oldsters knows that Brook Benton belongs in any discussion of "The Best." Tons of charted hits, and a unique, sublime voice that is unmatched in the history of recorded music. What really amazes me is that he's never even been considered . . . a travety in its own right . . .

I can't believe that Brook Benton is not in the music hall of fame . He deserve to be there. He should of been there a long, long time ago. You ask what did he do for the music industry? He not only had one of the most Beautiful and Soulful voices of that time, and HE COULD SING!!! He also wrote hit songs for the likes of Mr. Nat King Cole, Mr. Clyde MacFadder, and sang with the best of them. You have Dinah Washington in the hall, So what does a man of his talent have to do to be recogized by his peers. Mr. Frank Sinatra was so impress by his singing that he literlly changed his style of singing of the song "My Way" after he heard Mr. Benton sing it. He also was a versatile singer as you know from his country album, and his christmas albums. PLEASE put Mr. Benton into the music hall of fame Give the man his DUES.

A challenge to anyone with an appreciation of good music - listen to Brook's original recordings of:- A Million Miles From Nowhere, It's Just a Matter of Time, So Many Ways, Endlessly, Thank You Pretty Baby, Kiddio, Boll Weevil Song,Hotel Happiness, Revenge, Fools Rush In, You're All I Want For Xmas, Walk on the Wild Side, Rainy Night in Georgia and his 2 smash hits with Dinah Washington (Rockin' Good Way and Baby).
You will then be asking yourself why is this guy not recognised as "The Baritone Supreme" and immediately inducted into the R'n'R Hall of Fame.

It's not fair!!! This man has one of the best voice of all time.Even Mick Jagger claimed Brook was his favorite singer, the man with the satin voice. His songs were the most requested on the radio in Trinidad while I was growing up and he had tons of hits that I remember and yet there are people in the hall of fame who never had top ten hits like Brook. What is going on! The longer they wait to put him into the hall of fame, the sooner they will forget him. Please I'm begging you....give this man what is due to him.

Benton's career spanned R&B of the 50's and rock and roll into the 60's. He also was one of the first artists to write his own and other artists' hits. It seems like he has been almost forgotten. I listen to Sirius XM and his music rarely is played. He's never mentioned when crossover artists are talked about and most of those are in the Hall of Fame. I hope before I die I can listen to my Benton records and see him in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Of course, that's just my opinion and I could be wrong.

No,'re absolutely RIGHT. Brook Benton should have been inducted DECADES ago.

His omission, and that of so many OTHER classic R&B Artists of the 50's ,60's and 70's , is a commentary on everything that's WRONG about and with the Hall.

As his longtime Attorney/Manager, I naturally concur with all of you who have expressed yourselves. I will call upon the members whom I know, to make His Induction occur.

How in the WORLD did BROOK BENTON get left out ??
50 chart hit records between 1958 and 1978. That's
20 years of hits !! Although most people today only remember "A Rainy Night In Georgia" and his duets with Dinah Washington, He had a LOT more hits than just THAT !
Just how did his sometime singing partner, Dinah Washington, get inducted, while Brook get left out in the COLD ??
And, with the RRHOF's recent posture toward ignoring R&B acts and pre 80's artists , will Brook EVER get inducted ??
He wrote numerous hit records , for himself, and artists like Nat King Cole and Clyde McPhatter...and THEY'RE both in the Hall !! But Brook gets left out ??

Hits like "It's Just A Matter Of Time", "Endlessly" "Kiddio" "Baby, You've Got What It Takes", "So Many Ways", "The Boll Weevil Song" "Fool's Rush In" "Hotel Happiness","A Rockin' Good Way (To Mess Around and Fall In Love)" and numerous other hits, dominated radio in the Fifties and Sixties...
But, Brook is not inducted ? While artists with nowhere NEAR his hitmaking record get inducted EVERY YEAR ?
Again...WHY ??

15 Top 20 Pop Hits, seven of which reached the Top 10...

20 Top 10 R&B Hits, including 6 #1's...

...but , Brook is not inducted ? That's CRAZY !!

Click on the above link and see why this man should have been enshrined DECADES ago !!!

People on this site are always saying that all of the important R&B acts are already inducted.
BROOK BENTON is a powerful argument proving that that statement is a flat-out LIE !!
