Probably the worst inductee so far. Has done little of merit and was inducted mostly due to name recognition...

Bonnie Raitt?! BONNIE RAITT??!!

And now MADonna??!!

The list of artists who aren't in the hall is more impressive than the list of those who are in

I can't believe she got in with that coma-inducing crap she calls music.

Um...It is the rock and roll hall of fame. Rock and roll encompasses many genres of popular music. Bonnie Raitt, like Elvis was, is an R&B singer. I was lucky to get to sit third row at her concert here in san antonio and was the greatest show I've been to! Bonnie Raitt, and Madonna each alone have accomplished more than Alice Cooper and KISS together... More hits, more albums etc. I love KISS and Alice Cooper! Can't wait for Metallica to hit the AT&T center this summer!! But thats what the rock and roll hall of fame is all about...music. MUSIC!!! So chill the hell out!

I can't think of any reason why she deserved induction.

Sam...I think you'd need to go back about 35+ years and put all of the "commercial" stuff aside. She's truly one of the best slide blues players ever...

"I think she's one of the greatest blues slide guitarists of our time. She has impeccable technique plus that abulous singing tone that makes her slide playing instantly recognizable--the hallmark of a great guitarist. Nobody works those microtones more soulfully than she does. I've never heard a better slide player (or singer) in the blues genre; her only equal on slide in the blues genre is Ry Cooder.

B. B. King called Bonnie his favorite slide player. He would know. He developed his hugely influential string-trilling style because he couldn't master slide guitar. If Blind Willie Johnson, Earl Hooker, or Elmore James were alive today, Bonnie could match licks with them. No surprise there. She learned to play by hanging out with some of the great blues slide players ever, such as Son House and Mississippi Fred McDowell. She's also a damn fine acoustic fingerpicker who uses all four fingers plus thumb, which is unusual. And she's a great live performer--a dying art in these days of prefab vocals and canned tracks. I rate her right up with Bruce Springsteen as a live performer, and I don't rate anyone higher."...Mark Hoffman, co-author of "Moanin' at Midnight: The Life & Times of Howlin' Wolf"

I have seen her play live a few times.. Just never seen nor heard the big deal over her..I really do not care what BB King may of said in the game of music politics.. "All you need is ears. "Heck if you like Bruce that says it all LOL The good news if you were born to be a fan...

You might want to go back and check...I'm not the one who said all of that. I was quoting someone...

Gitarzan

PS I have meet Bonnie and seen her play before she gained her Fame.. Maybe she has improved.. She really had only one way to go in being a musician, that was up. To me she was a better than average bar act ...Having said that.. She was and is no Lindley. I saw them together so it was an easy comparison..
With all the great back up players I am sure she has improved..

I saw her live back in the day she was playing with John Hall and Freebo...her slide playing blew me away. I, for one think slide playing is difficult and it takes a different breed of player to do it right...she seemed to have it down pat!

Yeah I was with them at their gigs,, Got to love Freebo... he can hang... I guess if you think that she was good then we must be hearing things with the beat of a different drummer ... She is a boring sad person in my book..But Jackson Brown people seem to of liked her Heck I would take SRV over her in a Texas minute So your not a lone She is Not my bag LOL

Talented and influential, and I don't think she is a bad fit for the hall because of the sub-genres she works in. But she got in way too early. In what sane universe does Bonnie Raitt leapfrog over Queen, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, and so on, into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
