I know I'm late on this discussion, but I'm gonna say, blink is my all time favorite band, they are very influential and they saved mine and many people's lives. And yes they used to be super immature, but their new stuff is very mature. They're a lot of bands that deserve it more than blink, but I think blink deserves it also.

blink-182 is one of the most influential bands of all time. They've influenced a whole new generation of bands such as Fall Out Boy, Paramore, All Time Low, A Day To Remember, Good Charlotte, The Wonder Years, and lots more bands. They even influenced the rapper Machine Gun Kelly!! And they've had plenty of hit songs and sold over 40 million records!

Blink has changed and saved millions of lives whether you believe it or not. This is a no-brainer. Blink-182 SHOULD get inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame.

Blink-182 wasn't the revival or inspiration of punk or pop punk. It was definitely Green Day. Before Dookie it was all grunge until Green Day. Blink-182 has even said green day was an inspiration. Do I like Blink? Hell yes. Do I think they'll get into the HOF? Ehhhhh give me a few more years and we'll see

Noooo, copycat of a copycat.

I am a die hard Blink 182 fan, and even I know that they will have a hard time getting in. If they do it would shock me, but not because I do not think they are not good enough, but because tragically there are too many people out there with their noses in the air that ultimately decide what is "good enough". There are multiple reasons why they belong in the Hall of Fame. They spearheaded the second wave of pop punk that came barreling down on the ears of American teenagers circa 1999. It is a fact that if you were between the ages of 12-15 between 1999 and 2004, you were a Blink 182 fan, and they spoke not only to you, but for you. Tell me that when you listen to their lyrics as a young adolescent you didn't feel like they were writing for you. I will call you a liar. Enema and Take Off sold 15 and 14 million respectively. Their albums are continuously rated amongst the best in their genre, and have received numerous accolades from mainstream publications such as Guitar World, Rolling Stone, and the like. When comprising a list of the greatest pop punk albums of all time, and two of their records are in the top three? Yeah, I think that is pretty significant. When Rolling Stone says its one of the top 100 albums you need to hear before you die? Yeah I would call that significant as well. When your back catalog has been labeled as iconic, landmark, and influential, then yeah that deserves recognition. And this is all before you even start on their 2003 transformation that took place with their self-titled record, where they pushed their boundaries, experimented, infused, and lyrically matured. After that what else do you have? A whole lot. How about the fact that the Warped Tour is what it is today because of Blink 182. Fueled By Ramen records? Fall Out Boy? New Found Glory? The entire scene that thrived off rebellious teenagers and their desire to not conform? Yeah we owe that to Blink 182. If you live in the Midwest or Northeastern US and know what Hurley, Billabong, and Quiksilver are, it's because of Blink 182. Everything I just mentioned above are music industry and cultural influences. They were the voice to that entire American Pie, anti-Boy Band generation of teenagers fed up with stupid rules, people taking themselves too seriously, and glossy meaningless pop music that was written by some team and handed to a Mickey Mouse club member with a pretty face. That's nothing to sneer at. I, along with a lot of people lived my life by the ideals in their songs, and I can honestly say my life was nothing short of spectacular and fun. I owe my semi-successful music career to them, my individuality, my abilities to think, question, and inspire, and I owe the fact that I don't take life too seriously unless I have to, to Blink 182. You can say whatever you want about their crude humor or simple music, but when your music and your lyrics are inspiring kids across the world to be better versions of themselves, pick up instruments, and be their own person, they absolutely deserve recognition. They changed the way people viewed the world around them, and themselves, and taught us all to laugh at life. And they did it with everyone laughing in their face and calling them a joke, and they still stuck to who they were and never cared. To me that deserves mad recognition. It is a shame that so many people will overlook them and they probably won't get in, but they deserve to be there.

Well stated, Vincent! Hope you've seen them live, cause they do a great show.

NO for Blink 182 several reasons. Think Green Day who recently was inducted RRHOF inspired the resurgence of punk and rock early 90s. Don't think Blink 182 blazed that many new trails. I've listened to some of what was considered some of their best songs. Some good there but not RRHOF. Did like the I Miss You song with the stand up bass. I would say The Cure, Judas Priest, Def Leppard, Scorpions, Iron Maiden, Moody Blues, Duran Duran, Deep Purple several groups more worthy of induction. That's just the truth. KING

Blink isn't Punk. So what? Abba isn't punk, the Beatles aren't punk, the Ramones were pop punk. That's no requirement. Blink is popular and influential, all those saying they are bad musicians should think about how they come to inspire so many bands and sell so many records. Rock isn't about technical skill. They have lots of serious songs, Adams Song and Stay Together For the Kids are even relatively widely known. There's really no reason why they shouldn't get in, if you think about it.

Don't see any way Blink 182 gets nomination before 2030. There's too many bands more deserving than Blink 182. A boatload of snubs plus some big time bands elgibile next 4 years. 1.Moody Blues 2.Duran Duran 3.YES 4.Janet Jackson 5.Dire Straits 6.Iron Maiden 7.Stevie Nicks 8.Pearl Jam 9.Radiohead 10.DMB 11.Judas Priest 12.The Cars 13.Counting Crows 14.Black Crowes 15.Gram Parsons/Emmylou Harris 16.Smashing Pumpkins 17.Bad Company 18.Steve Winwood 19.LL Cool J 20.Alice In Chains 21.STP 22.Procol Harum 23.J.Geils Band 24.The Cure 25.Depeche Mode 26. Kool & The Gang 27.Def Leppard 28.Nine Inch Nails 29.Motorhead 30.Sheryl Crowe That's a quick 30 bands that are more deserving. The FRL posters can add more if they want. KING

Saw the new & improved Blink-182 at Riverbend last night. 19,000 there on a Wednesday! Had a nice seat o right side of stadium. Band was rocking, as always. Travis sounded great. New guy Matt did a great job. His vocals aren't as whiny as Tom's were, so a few of the songs sound a little different. Played a good 5 songs off new album (album better than 'Neighborhoods', IMO) & rest was golden oldies.

Matt sort of looks like Sting's kid. Was having a blast up there, as was Mark. Great time & as I'm now retired, no problem seeing them on a weekday.

I don’t think they’ll be one of this year’s nominees for the ballot, but they should be one of the most voted acts on this site once the HOF actually gets to Janet Jackson, Jethro Tull, and Eminem.

Posted by The Dude on Saturday, 03/24/2018 @ 10:30am

They have sold over 50,000,000 records world wide. They where the main act during the warped tours golden years. They brought punk back to life and changed it for the better and influenced many of other big bands. Hell my dad who is old and is a country music fan even knows who blink 182 is for crying out load. I’m just saying that they’re a very good band and deserve to be in here just as much as any other inductee. Plus it would mean the world to fans around the world if they got inducted. BUT if they do get inducted it better be with Tom DeLonge not Matt Skiba.

Since I’m not a fan of Blink-182, they can wait. If we’re gonna talk about the 90’s, then the ones I think who should get in first the most are Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Pantera, Rage Against The Machine, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Jane’s Addiction, the Melvins, Helmet, Faith No More, Primus, Kyuss and Tool.

Yeah, I know some of them I’ve mentioned put out their first release back in the 80’s - but they’re still 90’s nonetheless.

Posted by The Dude on Wednesday, 11/14/2018 @ 13:38pm

Dude, don't forget The Offspring! IMO, more deserving than Blink-182 (and I love Blink-182).

Posted by Paul in KY on Wednesday, 11/14/2018 @ 13:52pm

@ Paul

Once one of my biggest snubs from the 90’s make it, the Offspring will be on the list.

Posted by The Dude on Wednesday, 11/14/2018 @ 14:15pm

Why does so many people want them in!?! They're a joke! They only inspired crappy bands like Fall Out Boy.

Posted by Michael on Saturday, 12/22/2018 @ 17:29pm

Guilty pleasure musicians who are only good in the studio. However, considering their commercial success and no. 1 place on the in-building fan vote that won't be moving any time soon, they'll be first ballot inductees.

Posted by Jason Dagotto on Friday, 01/11/2019 @ 12:58pm

Jason, I've seen them 4 times (once with Matt) & they effing rock live. They sure did the times I've seen them. Would be shocked if they went 1st ballot, though.

Wow! Just noticed 'First Date' is not an essential song?!?! Jeezus, that's their best song, IMO!

Spotify: Most Streamed Albums of 2001

9. BLINK 182 – TAKE OFF YOUR PANTS AND JACKET

Released in June 2001, Take Off Your Pants And Jacket is Blink 182‘s first US #1 album, entering at that position, with 350,000 sales. It also topped the charts in Canada and Germany and went top 5 in Australia #2, New Zealand #2, Austria, #3, Italy #4, UK #4 and Switzerland #4.

The album was promoted with 3 singles, The Rock Show, First Date, and Stay Together For The Kids. They were nowhere near as popular as All the Small Things from their previous album. In general, they made a few Top 40s at best.

All 3 made the Top 10 Alternative Chart in the US yet, doing extremely well on rock radio stations. They were never really removed from playlists, securing recurrent appeal through the years.

First Date is now the most popular song of the pack with 115 million streams. The remaining pair of singles add for nearly as much combined.

The LP is a modern day classic. It charted for over a year in both the US and the UK, while its appeal lasted much longer. All its songs but one crack 10 million streams, which is a tremendous showing for a catalog record. It is the 9th biggest from 2001 in total at 381 million.

Sorry to all the butt hurt grandpa rock lovers that cannot appreciate talent and give credit where it's due. First off music sucks serious balls now a days that everyone can agree on I'm pretty sure. With that being said who is really left to induct onto the great rock and roll hall of fame? Really. The bands that deserve it will get their time the bands that could have got it refused it or kept their old feelings about the governed not so rock and roll hall of fame. First off if you know anything about the folklore or underground essence of rock music you'll understand that supreme talent doesnt necessarily matter in a sense of skill. Its about what these bands did how big of a mark they left and will continue to leave and the impact they had on listeners and future musicians alike. If your going to discredit Blink 182s charm you might as well say eff you to green day that got in a few years back, Nirvana, and a bunch of other bands that weren't known for their display of talent because its just hypocritical. like it or not blink 182 helped evolve modern punk rock and music in general and as much as they lacked talent they oozed it too. They're later records show amazing growth and diversity and their earlier stuff shows the beginnings of great songwriters and musicians. Strings, peggy sue, fentoozler, pathetic, untitled, the dogs eating dogs ep is a masterpiece. Being a critic just isnt cool and getting mad dime bad Daryl still didnt get his recognition just kills you, you should lighten the eff up and broaden your horizons a little bit. Travis Barker is a multi genre genius and tom delonge has some of THE most underrated guitar riffs and melodys that will be remembered for time to come. Not only do they deserve it but it should even be a matter of discussion, took long enough if you ask me, blink 182 gets my vote.

P.s. punk rock is a sub genre of rock music as rock music is derived from blues. Saying rap should be considered is not only stupid but offensive to the legends. I can see why rappers look up to the greats but they will never be nearly as talented as the ones who get inducted. If your gonna put rap music in you might as well put classical too and electronic and everything else that doesnt make sense, dream on gangstas.

-"Your lips they will stutter with flavour, you cant change the taste of the blood". Blink 182 - disaster

I think it is great that there are fans that support Blink 182 and more of the modern Punk, and I feel Rock and Roll needs that in this day and age, where good and talented Rock bands get overlooked. But are you really referring to the first wave of Punk as Grandpa Rock. Blink 182 lists the Descendents as one of their major influences, which were a late 70's original west coast Punk band along with Social Distortion, Agent Orange, and the Adolescents. Not to mention Black Flag, X, The Dickies, The Germs, Fear, The Weirdos, who were all L.A. area original punk rockers. Then you have New York grandpa rockers, The Ramones, Television, Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers, Blondie, Talking Heads, New York Dolls, and do I really need to go across the pond where the majority of the First Wave of Punk Rock broke out and exploded.
You seem to have one fact correct is that you will probably be a Grandpa by the time some of your favorite bands reach the Hall of Fame. It is well noted that a lot of well deserved bands are up there in age by the time they get to be nominated and inducted, and we see it every year.
But keep up with the positive outlook as millions of Rock fans do, that some of their favorite, well deserved bands might get nominated and inducted. Do you realize that there are only a few Punk Rock bands that have been nominated and/or inducted, and a few of them border on the mainstream like The Clash, Blondie, and the Talking Heads. Other than that, The Ramones, Sex Pistols, and The Stooges, and that's about it. Nirvana is a hybrid Punk/Grunge/Alternative, one of a kind band, making them unique and original, Pearl Jam is Classic Rock/Grunge, and Green Day is whatever, a carbon copy of a mix of influences that came before them. Still creative, and I like Green Day. Also have to mention The Pretenders, who's first LP is Punk, and they went more mainstream after that.
There just happens to be quite a few original Punk bands, Grandpa Punk, I guess, that still are not recognized that much, but could very well be considered before Blink 182 gets a sniff. Buzzcocks, for sure, an originator, New York Dolls, of course, MC5, The Damned, The Stranglers, Black Flag, X, Social Distortion, Dead Kennedys, Joy Division, The Pixies, Husker Du, Squeeze, Gary Numan/Tubeway Army, Fugazi, The Minutemen, The Replacements, UK Subs, and many more.. Holy crap, there is just way too much Grandpa Rock out there..

Light weight rock band... their stuff has no riffs. This is about as rock as Maroon 5

Posted by James on Wednesday, 08/11/2021 @ 22:56pm

They may be the furthest thing from critical darlings but their sound defined a generation in the late 90's early 00's. Countless bands now take direct influence from them. While yes there are so many other more respected acts that there is a great case for, Blink is super deserving. Many recognizable songs, some foundational albums in the pop punk realm. You don't get the warped tour scene of the 00's or much of the emo rap going on now in the 20's, without them

Posted by Erik on Thursday, 12/9/2021 @ 09:24am

You can now tick the box for "Major Festival Headliner" since they're going to headline Coachella this Sunday.

Posted by Dave on Friday, 04/21/2023 @ 21:52pm

Blink should be in the hall plain and simple. Love them or hate them, they were the defining band in pop punk and are the most influential pop punk band out there. They also have headlined Coachella, When We Were Young, and Warped Tour so that should be checked off the list.

Posted by rcalv25 on Thursday, 01/11/2024 @ 21:23pm

blink is a Major Festival Headliner! They headlined the 2014 and 2024 Reading, 2023 Coachella, and many more. So, there's another reason that they should be in Rock Hall!
