His country rock sound in the early 90s should bring him some consideration for induction. Much of his music during that time was reminiscent of Townes Van Zandt, Bruce Springsteen, and Elvis. and he never seemed to receive enough respect for crafting his own sound.
Notable songs with a great rock element: Could've Been Me, Words By Heart, Enough is Enough, Geronimo, and much of the material on his first two albums.
