I absolutely think that Billy should be inducted. He would be perfect for the sidemen category-just look at who he worked with-Little Richard, The Beatles, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Red Hot Chill Peppers, and the list goes on.

Second this. He was a wonderful performer and songwriter. Too bad he wasn't put in before he passed.

Unreal that Billy Preston is not in the hall. I just saw who was inducted. This is a joke. Patti Smith????? REM ??? Billy Preston is the supreme sideman, master of the Hammond organ. His contributions are immense. Listen to the Beatles, "Get Back". That song is nothing without Billy.

Let's not forget his work with the Stones.

I just noticed he wasn't in and what a shame that is. I love his solo music and the contributions he has made with other artists. I don't understand how they could snub him for so long. What a great and talented artist. I am so glad that one of his last contributions was on RHCP's Warlocks. However, both Patti Smith (she was way overdue) and REM belong in the hall as well.

Yea PJ, just his contributions to The Beatles' "Let It Be" and all those Rolling Stone albums and his collaborations with George Harrison and popularizing the clavinet make him a very notable part of rock history in my view.
Miles Davis even named a song after him!
Too bad they did not induct him before he died. he would have been a great, fun presence as a performer. Shame on the Hall.

Billy should definately go in, and he should go in as a sideman.

I'm sad to report that Mr. Preston will likely never make it into the Hall. What a shame; the guy was arguably the Fifth Beatle, and he won't get in.

Definitely deserves induction. Shame it couldn't happen in his lifetime.

At the very least as a sideman, without a doubt...

Something tells me that Preston will get his due, just like Isaac Hayes did. He'd been eligible for a while too.

And Billy should get in, ASAP. He was one of the few black funk artists who consistency appealed to both R&B/Soul and FM rock fans.

Also, he and Hayes were the only two '70s artists I could think of who alternated between both vocal and instrumental hits.

You know, the more I think about it, the more I think they should go back to having more than five inductees a year.

Especially by the time all the '90s acts becaome eligible.

I was amazed to learn that Billy Preston hasn't even been previously considered, much less inducted . . . a travesty if there ever was one. The guy played with everyone, and was one of the true masters of the Hammond B-3 . . . this oversight needs to be corrected . . .

Billy Preston is and was, one of the world's all-time greats. His talent and sincerity to his craft wa always evident. Please don't allow petty conflicts to overlook this artist any longer. Do the right thing and give him his due.

How could Billy Preston NOT be in?? Songs like Nothing From Nothing and Will It Go Round In Circles are masterpieces. Billy Preston deserves his due. He is an all around great performer. Wake up R & R Hall of Fame!!
